The first episode of Gen V already ends with a major death: Golden Boy’s. Luke Riordan was the No. 1 ranked student at Godolkin University, and he was set to become a member of The Seven.

Unfortunately, Golden Boy doesn’t last long in Gen V, as the character dies in the premiere. Prior to his death, he’s been having a dream where he finds his brother Sam in a forest. He later figures out that his brother isn’t really dead.

Luke then visits Professor Brink in his office and murders him. Marie walks in just as Luke burns him alive. Luke goes after Marie, and Jordan tries to stop Luke.

Students witness what’s currently happening. Andre tries to calm his best friend down, but the latter is overwhelmed with everything. Luke then apologizes, flies to the sky, and kills himself.

Golden Boy’s death then leads to a series of other events in the spin-off. Andre, Cate, Jordan, Marie, and Emma later get dragged into the mysteries regarding “The Woods” and Sam’s whereabouts.

While Golden Boy is an important and intriguing character, it’s not really much of a surprise that he was killed off early. As mentioned earlier, The Boys isn’t afraid of killing off characters – both those in major and minor roles.

Professor Brink’s death is tied to Golden Boy’s. Richard "Rich Brink" Brinkerhoff was a renowned professor at Godolkin University and the Crimefighting Department Chairman.

While he favored top students Golden Boy, Jordan Li, and Andre Anderson, he wasn’t very kind to the show’s main protagonist, Marie Moreau.

In fact, after a nightclub incident involving Luke and his friends, Brink wanted to put all the blame on Marie and even had her expelled. Brink was a man of secrets who suffered a terrible fate in the end.

Dean Indira Shetty dies in the seventh episode of Gen V. Dean Shetty is the main antagonist in Gen V Season 1. We later find out that her goal is to kill all the Supes in the world.

It turns out that her daughter Lily and husband Paul were passengers on Transoceanic Flight 37 (in The Boys Season 1, Homelander destroyed the plane instead of saving the people inside).

So, Dean Shetty wants revenge on all the Supes (like Billy Butcher). She asks Dr. Cardosa to make the virus airborne so that it can spread across the globe and kill all Supes.

Cate thinks that they should strike first, so she makes Shetty kill herself.

Dr. Edison Cardosa dies in Gen V’s seventh episode. Dr. Cardosa was the one who created the virus, but he wasn’t on board with Shetty’s plans. To him, the virus is for “compassionate control”, not for killing Supes.

So, he hands over the virus to Victoria Neuman, thinking they have the same goal. Victoria then blows up Dr. Cardosa’s head with her powers.

No, Cate does not die in Gen V Season 1. After killing Dean Shetty, Cate decides to “free The Woods”, and Sam chooses to help her.

Cate and Sam release all the prisoners in The Woods, and the freed Supes begin killing humans on the campus.

Cate does not die, but Marie blows off half of her arm after she tries to use her powers on Jordan.

By the end of the episode, Sam and Cate are named the “Guardians of Godolkin”, while Marie, Jordan, Emma, and Andre are accused of being the ones behind the murder spree on campus, which was dubbed the “Godolkin 4 Massacre”.

Does Marie Die in Gen V?

No, Marie does not die in Gen V Season 1. In the finale, Homelander arrives at Godolkin University after Ashley calls him for help.

There, he sees Marie and asks her, “What kind of animal are you? Do you like attacking your own kind?” Before Marie can fully respond, Homelander blasts her with his heat vision.

We then see Marie trapped in a mysterious facility, along with Andre, Jordan, and Emma.

None of the main characters die in Gen V’s Season 1 finale, which means we will be seeing Marie, Jordan, Emma, Andre, Cate, and Sam in Gen V Season 2, and probably in The Boys Season 4 too.
