Comic book characters are undoubtedly some of the most overpowered entities in all of geek culture. Their superhuman strength and abilities already place them on top of the pedestal and they could only ever be brought down by their respective weaknesses.

However, this isn't the case for some of the biggest names in the world of superheroes. In fact, the more the Marvel Cinematic Universe continues to expand, the more we get to meet the most overpowered characters in the billion-dollar franchise. Here's a list of the heroes (and villains) that fit in the MCU list thus far!

  1. The High Evolutionary

Chukwudi Iwuji's portrayal of the High Evolutionary in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 is difficult to forget.

Not only was he responsible for 'building' Rocket the raccoon, but as a part of his goal to improve an entirely new race (based on intelligence), he also created an entire civilization according to his 'image and likeness.'

The High Evolutionary's god-like figure demands respect and attention, though not enough to sustain the loyalty of his subjects due to the ruthlessness of his ruling.

  2. Shang-Chi

Similar to the High Evolutionary, we have only seen Shang-Chi once - in his own solo debut film, Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, and yet martial arts skills and superpowers boast that of being included on this list.

While we have yet to witness the full potential of his heroic abilities, his debut could only tease what's to come in his future in the MCU.

After all, once he had gained the ten bracelets, this just enhanced his strength and mystical powers that might as well grant him the title of being one of the most dangerous men on the planet. He could even go as far as to become a part of the new Avengers team.

  3. Adam Warlock

After Will Poulter's brief appearance as Adam Warlock in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, many MCU fans have been wondering whether we'll be seeing him in the long-running franchise again.

Well, since he did join the Guardians of the Galaxy team, with Rocket leading the new group, there's no doubt he'll eventually show off some improvement in the future Guardians movie or perhaps the Avengers movie (like with how Infinity War and Endgame did).

Poulter previously described his character, Adam, as a newborn baby for having little to no knowledge of how he could control his powers. Hopefully, the next time we see him, Rocket would have most likely done his job training him as their new leader.

  4. Thor Odinson

Undoubtedly the strongest member of the original Avengers team, Thor Odinson still belongs on this list given his versatility.

Although his powers are commonly depicted controlling the weather (mainly, lightning and thunder), getting to utilize these abilities with or without his hammer Mjolnir, or his new axe Stormbreaker boosts just how powerful the God of Thunder really is with or without his instruments.

Not to mention, since his hammer was always 'cursed' by his father Odin to only be lifted by anyone else worthy to wield its powers, the fact that Thor would always be able to carry its strength in his hands means he was destined for greatness as a God and ruler of Asgard.

  5. Sersi

Any MCU diehard would know that the most overpowered doesn't automatically mean 'strongest' in the physical sense.

Superpowers come from different roots, and Sersi's specific ability is using cosmic energy to save the entire planet - not just as a part of her mission as an Eternal but as her personal goal, as well.

There's hope of seeing her return in an Eternals sequel, (if that comes to fruition) but could she make her MCU return in any other Avengers movie, too?

  6. Captain Marvel

If Captain America was one of the most powerful super soldiers in the early days of the MCU, Carol Danvers' Captain Marvel debut boasted her cosmic powers from her origin story.

Though she was led to believe by the Kree that the Skrulls are the enemy of the story, Carol's kind and brave heart urged her to turn the tables on the Kree and protect the last of the Skrulls' species.

Apart from watching Captain Marvel go head-to-head with Thanos with barely a scratch or breaking a sweat, it would be interesting to see how she'll come up against their next villain in the MCU.

  7. Vision

Initially built as a form of artificial intelligence for Tony Stark's works, Vision transforming into an autonomous, Vibranium-built android just strengthened his resolve to save humanity. Though, particularly, Wanda Maximoff.

The Mind Stone may have been the cause of how he became the Vision we know today, but it is exactly the Infinity Stone that turned him into an indestructible being, much like with the White Vision we encountered in WandaVision.

  8. Scarlet Witch

The Scarlet Witch has the power to read and control everyone's minds, manipulate anything she can get her hands on, and the entire reality of what she desires to dominate - of course, she belongs on this list.

The only thing that stopped her from fully becoming the top overpowered character in the MCU is the fact that Doctor Strange stopped her in his sequel.

As unfortunate as it was, Wanda merely wanted to return to her twin sons, and yet at her dying breath, she chose to surrender and pay for the consequences of becoming the villain of the story.

While MCU fans believe her to be dead, with Marvel's Multiverse remaining intact, there's a high chance she'll return as a variant or perhaps through the appearances of her Youngboys as a part of the Young Avengers team.

  9. Doctor Strange

Doctor Stephen Strange may have started off as the arrogant renowned surgeon in the franchise, but his intelligence was then led to somewhere more useful in protecting the greater good of the universe.

Hailing the new title of Sorcerer Supreme, Doctor Strange has held his position in being one of Earth's Mightiest Heroes and Defenders, even beyond the Dark Dimensions of his home planet.

Despite the controversial death of the Scarlet Witch in the Multiverse of Madness, this only proves just how powerful he can be when he reaches his full potential with the Darkhold and his newly gained all-knowing Eye.

  10. G'iah

Unlike the others, G'iah is probably the most surprising to have come on top of this list of being the most overpowered MCU character.

Within six episodes of Secret Invasion, G'iah transformed from being a double agent Skrull for Gravik and for her own dad, Talos, into becoming the MCU's secret salvation.

Thanks to the Super Skrulls' DNA entering the franchise, this allowed Nick Fury to transfer the Avengers' DNA he kept in his secret lair, to let G'iah defeat Gravik with her own hands - as revenge for the death of her father and to free the rest of the Skrull colony under her ruling.
