One of the most distinguishable weapons in the MCU belongs to the God of Thunder himself. Thor wields his mighty hammer, Mjolnir with the greatest of ease and for the better part of the billion-dollar franchise, it seemed like Thor was the only character capable of lifting it.

Obviously, that changed over the course of the MCU but still, only a select few have managed to wield the Mjolnir and prove that they're just as worthy as Thor.

Apart from him, the billion-dollar franchise has already showcased a couple of MCU characters who can lift Thor’s hammer to their advantage.

Odin

In the first Thor film, Odin was behind the creation of Mjolnir in the first place and one of the key requirements to ‘find’ its user was that it should be someone worthy of wielding its power.

That said, this also happened to be an intended punishment for Thor for breaking the peace between the Frost Giants and Asgardians so that the God of Thunder would learn this the hard way.

As the creator who cast the enchantment over Mjolnir, this means the next users would have to live based on Odin’s condition behind wielding the hammer’s powers.

Vision

Although Vision was an AI-generated, Vibranium-made android, shortly after he was created into his physical form, he managed to casually pick up Mjolnir while the Avengers were trying to see who else in the room would be ‘worthy’ of Thor’s hammer.

It was also in Avengers: Age of Ultron that we got to see Vision not only lift Thor’s hammer but even use it against Ultron’s army in the film.

Captain America/Steve Rogers

There is no doubt that Steve Rogers would be included on this list; some of the purest hearts with the intention of saving mankind would make sense in being worthy of lifting Thor’s hammer.

In fact, he almost did get to lift it on his own in Avengers: Age of Ultron when they were trying it out, only for it to foreshadow wielding Mjolnir during their final battle against Thanos in Avengers: Endgame.

Hela

Despite being locked up by Odin himself, Hela, his firstborn child, wielded the power of Mjolnir before it even came to Thor’s possession.

Hela had indeed used Mjolnir while fighting alongside her father to conquer the Nine Realms, only to later reveal her preference for weapons via bladed swords such as the Necroswords she would summon on the battlefield.

In fact, she was the reason why Thor lost his hammer in Thor: Ragnarok, as she had destroyed Mjolnir instead of letting it come back to the God of Thunder.

It was only in Avengers: Endgame, when the Avengers traveled back in time, had they retrieved Mjolnir in order for them to fully defeat Thanos.

Mighty Thor/Jane Foster

Initially portrayed as the brilliant astrophysicist and Thor’s love interest, Thor: Love and Thunder introduced Jane Foster as ‘Mighty Thor.’

Upon Mjolnir getting pieced back together, it was thanks to Jane’s worthiness that the hammer chose her, granting her superhuman abilities that led her to claim the title, the ‘Mighty Thor.’

As cool enough as it sounds to be on the same level of strength as the God of Thunder, it came at a cost. Wielding the hammer sped up her cancer.

While there are merely a few who could truly wield Mjolnir, the Marvel Cinematic Universe won’t be stopping the list here.

It’s quite likely that we’ll be seeing more characters getting introduced over time who may even surpass Thor’s power and control over the hammer himself. It all boils down to adhering to Odin’s condition before using Mjolnir.
