At this year's Star Wars Celebration, it was revealed that a Mando-Verse movie is in development, but will The Mandalorian Season 4 pave the way?

This year's Star Wars Celebration in London unveiled a number of upcoming Star Wars projects, while also teasing ones such as Ahsoka (2023).

One of the three upcoming theatrical releases will be a Mando-Verse movie, which will see The Mandalorian (2019) EP Dave Filoni in the director's chair.

Nothing is known about the project as yet, but it will be a crossover event of kind between all the Mando-Verse shows so far.

This includes The Mandalorian, The Book of Boba Fett (2019), and, undoubtedly, Ahsoka, which will premiere on Disney+ this August.

In terms of a plot, your guess is as good as ours, but it will more than likely revolve around the Empire, or the "Imperial remnants".

This has played a big part in The Mandalorian so far, and came to a head in Season 3, with Moff Gideon (Giancarlo Esposito) leading an assault on Mandalore.

There was also a revelation involving human-cloning (echoes, of course, of Emperor Palpatine and Supreme Leader Snoke in the Sequel Trilogy).

The Season 3 finale even teased the birth of the First Order, so The Mandalorian Season 4 may even lean into the Sequel Trilogy even more.

This could be what the Mando-Verse movie will be about - the first appearance of the First Order, the successor to the Galactic Empire.

But not so fast - what about The Book of Boba Fett? Well, the titular bounty hunter (Temuera Morrison) dealt mainly with gangsters on Tatooine.

There was no real overarching threat in the spin-off series, but that doesn't mean his services won't be called upon in the Mando-Verse movie.

After all, Boba made his first return-appearance in The Mandalorian Season 2, during which he helped Din Djarin (Pedro Pascal) against Gideon's Imperial forces.

Ultimately, though, the Mando-Verse movie may actually rest on Ahsoka's shoulders. We've already seen the trailer, and there are certainly plenty of possible hints throughout.

One of them is the potential inclusion of the "World Between Worlds" storyline from the hit animated show Star Wars: Rebels (2014).

If this does make a comeback in Ahsoka, it could be huge, as it involves time travel, something that could really set the stage for the Mando-Verse movie.

Could the Mando-Verse movie wind up taking place in an alternate timeline as a result, with Din Djarin, Ahsoka Tano, and Boba Fett teaming up to save the galaxy?

But the most likely scenario (though it easily feature both in some capacity) would be Grand Admiral Thrawn (Lars Mikkelsen).

The Rebels villain will be the main antagonist in Ahsoka, as teased in the trailer. After all, he's "Heir to the Empire".

Thrawn is a truly formidable villain, and who better to give rise to the First Order than this highly-capable, mercilessly-efficient Imperial?

The show will primarily revolve around the ongoing search for lost Jedi Ezra Bridger (Eman Esfandi), which may involve using the World Between Worlds.

Then, of course, there's Grogu. Will he even appear in the Mando-Verse movie? Well, no one has been confirmed as yet.

But Grogu is really the bread and butter of The Mandalorian, which is also the flagship show of the Mando-Verse.

As such, it's reasonable to expect the Mando-Verse movie to dovetail off this show rather than any of the others (although Ahsoka is also likely).

Will the upcoming crossover event answer some long-burning questions about Grogu's future? Will he become a proper Mandalorian, or will Luke Skywalker (Mark Hamill) return to continue his Jedi training?

We'll just have to wait and see...
