10 Actresses Who Could Replace Gina Carano In The Mandalorian

Recently, the official trailer for The Mandalorian Season 3 dropped, which sees the return of many familiar characters. But one who's nowhere to be seen is Cara Dune. Following Gina Carano's infamous sacking, it's possible Lucasfilm has chosen to retire the character, or maybe they're planning to recast her. If this is the case, here are 10 actresses who would be perfect for the role!

Alaqua Cox is best known for playing Echo in Marvel's Hawkeye (2021) on Disney+, an anti-hero type who's due to return in her own spin-off series some time this year, as part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe's Phase 5. But given Cox's physicality, fighting abilities, and the fact she actually looks quite a bit like Gina Carano, we'd like to see her step into the boots of Cara Dune instead.

2. Mary Elizabeth Winstead

Mary Elizabeth Winstead has enjoyed a number of action-heavy roles in recent years, such as Harley Quinn: Birds of Prey (2020) and Kate (2021). As such, she'd be perfect for the role of Cara Dune. Unfortunately, there would be a bit of a problem with this casting, because she's expected to be playing Twi'lek pilot Hera Syndulla in the upcoming live-action Star Wars series Ahsoka (2023).

3. Hayley Atwell

Another actress who's no stranger to action is Hayley Atwell, who's best known for portraying Agent Peggy Carter in the Marvel series of the same name, as well as in MCU movies such as Captain America: The First Avenger (2011) and more recently, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness (2022). Why have a shield when you can have a blaster?!

4. Michelle Rodriguez

Hollywood tough-girl Michelle Rodriguez is perhaps one of the more obvious choices for playing a character like Cara Dune. After all, she has appeared in most of the Fast and Furious movies, one of which even included a brawl between her and Gina Carano! And seeing as Michelle won that fight, it's only fair that she gets to take up the mantle of Cara Dune in The Mandalorian.

5. Becky G

Becky G is an incredibly underrated actress (and a very talented musician too), as is the 2017 Power Rangers reboot (2017), in which she plays Trini Kwan/the Yellow Ranger, a character she brings a whole lot of attitude and complexity to. Unfortunately, she won't be returning for a sequel as the franchise is being rebooted yet again, so we think Cara Dune should be her next stop.

Adrianne Palicki would make a perfect Cara Dune in The Mandalorian - or elsewhere in Star Wars. While she has appeared in shows like The Orville (2017) and action movies such as GI Joe: Retaliation (2013), her most relevant performance is in John Wick (2014) as shady assassin Ms. Perkins. She doesn't last very long, but she's got some impressive fighting skills nonetheless!

7. Eiza González

Eiza Gonzales has appeared in a number of big blockbusters in recent years, such as Baby Driver (2017) and Godzilla vs. Kong (2021). So she's no stranger to handing heavy weaponry and high-speed chases, and nor is she stranger to dealing with giant monsters (although she does end up getting crushed to death in the latter film)! A perfect candidate for Cara Dune then? Of course!

8. Stephanie Beatriz

Stephanie Beatriz is known for her nonchalant demeanor and tough exterior as NYC cop Rosa Diaz in the hit US sitcom Brooklyn 99 (2013). These are skills that could be easily translated into a character like Cara Dune, although Beatriz may need to let go of the toughness somewhat, and perhaps bring just a smidgeon of Encanto's Mirabel - you know, just to balance things out a little!

9. Ronda Rousey

Ronda Rousey might just be the most qualified candidate on this list to step in a new Cara Dune. Not only is she a UFC fighter just like Gina Carano, the two have gone toe to toe together in the ring! And just like Carano, Rousey has also appeared in one of the Fast and Furious movies, in which she plays a villain who ends up fighting it out with Michelle Rodriguez' Letty Ortiz!

Melissa Benoist is best known for playing Kara Danvers/Kara Zor-El/Supergirl in the CBS series Supergirl (2015). Her character is mostly tender, but, of course, being a Kryptonian and all, she also exudes plenty of toughness too, which makes her perfect for a character like Cara Dune. Who needs Supergirl when you have Cara Dune, right?!
