No one could have predicted the direction The Mandalorian Season 3 would take, especially after that Season 2 finale with Luke Skywalker (Mark Hamill).

While there was some forewarning with The Book of Boba Fett (2021), we didn't really expect Grogu to return to the flagship show so soon.

But the third season took some unexpected returns, side-lining Din Djarin (Pedro Pascal) in his own show in favor of Bo-Katan Kryze (Katee Sackhoff).

However, the Season 3 finale did give us a pretty solid idea as to where The Mandalorian Season 4 is heading, and it looks like it will go back to basics.

In the final scene, Din Djarin meets New Republic officer Carson Teva (Paul Sun-Hyung Lee), and asks him for work in hunting down in Imperial remnants.

Before that, however, The Armorer (Emily Swallow) "christens" Grogu in the mines of the mines of Mandalore, and allows Din Djarin to officially adopt him.

She tells him that he will now need to take "Din Grogu" on journeys throughout the galaxy, just as his mentor did when he was a Foundling.

So, it's fair to say that The Mandalorian Season 4 will return to basics, following Din and Grogu on more stand-alone, episodic adventures.

So, this much we know, but what we don't know is whether the fourth season will introduce an older version of Grogu.

We know what you're thinking - how would this be possible, seeing as Grogu is still a child? Well, it's entirely possible the show will make a time-jump.

In fact, this would be pretty interesting, as it would allow for a change of scenery where the show's characters are concerned.

Not only that, but it's safe to say things are starting to feel a bit too "samey" and formulaic for the show, which fans are already starting to grow tired of.

While we wouldn't expect it to jump too far forward, because doing so would mean that it would have to abandon the "Mando-Verse" timeline, something would be better than nothing, right?

It's important to note that executive producer Dave Filoni is attached to directed a theatrical Mando-Verse crossover movie.

This would see Din Djarin, Ahsoka Tano (Rosario Dawson), and Boba Fett (Temuera Morrison) - at the very least - teaming up on the big screen.

So we get it - Season 4 can't make too bold a move when it comes to timelines, but there are a few other ways we can meet an older Grogu.

Star Wars is no stranger to flashbacks, but what about flashforwards? After all, it's not like the future beyond The Mandalorian isn't already set in stone.

The show is set 25 years before the Sequel Trilogy, and seeing as we don't know where Grogu is during those films, Season 4 could be a great place to answer some burning questions.

There's also a Sequel-era film in the works, which will see Daisy Ridley reprising her role as Jedi Rey. Will she end up training Grogu?

Either way, it would be good to finally understand what the future has in store for Grogu, but on the other hand, Filoni and creator Jon Favreau will likely be keeping these cards close to their chests for future use.

The other option would be some form of time travel, if, indeed, the upcoming Ahsoka (2023) does bring this into the fold somehow, as many are expecting.

For now, we'll just have to wait and see. But either way, it would be awesome to see an older Grogu. Because kids simply don't stay the same forever!
