Star Wars: Natasha Liu Bordizzo Discusses Mandalorian Training to Play Sabine Wren

It has been a long wait but we finally got our first glimpse at Natasha Liu Bordizzo as Sabine Wren in the Ahsoka teaser. And although the official trailer doesn't show Sabine in action (that happens in the highlight reel screened during Star Wars Celebration), the Day Shift actor did confirm she went through several months of Mandalorian training for her role.

Natasha Liu Bordizzo joined the rest of the cast of Ahsoka during Star Wars Celebration 2023 where she spoke to Comicbook.com about preparing for her role as Sabine Wren. The Guns Akimbo star admitted that she wanted to play the Mandalorian as fans expected.

"It took a very long time," Bordizzo said. "It took months and months and I'm so glad we had the time because it would have sucked to come in late and then try to rush to be at the level that I wanted to be at. So it took a long time and I think that the hardest part was probably just doing it justice because you just don't want it to not be anything but awesome. So reaching that level physically takes its time."

Interestingly, Natasha Liu Bordizzo shares Rosario Dawson's hopes for Ahsoka getting renewed for a second season and she confirmed she is ready to begin training right away.

"If we get Season 2, I'm training from now, the minute it's announced, that I'll be like back in that, I love it," she stated.

Rosario Dawson had previously admitted she is already looking forward to Ahsoka Season 2 but that would still depend on how fans react to the show's first season. Judging from the trailer so far, there's a huge chance this will actually happen.

Ahsoka will also feature Mary Elizabeth Winstead as Hera Syndulla and Lars Mikkelsen as Grand Admiral Thrawn. The series has not yet been given an official release date but is set to premiere on Disney+ in August 2023.
