This month, the first part of the highly-anticipated epic science-fiction film Rebel Moon from Zack Snyder will finally arrive on Netflix. Fans of the director have been excited to see his original vision that will likely be the streamer's next major hit.

Snyder and Netflix already have an ambitious plan for the property since it will have a second part that is set to release in spring next year and they intend to expand it into a massive franchise with a TV series spinoff, video game, and other formats.

Now, as fans are counting down to the film's release, we have a new update on its release where Netflix subscribers will be able to watch it earlier than expected.

Netflix has announced that Rebel Moon – Part One: A Child of Fire will now be released on the streamer at an earlier date.

The film is now set to launch worldwide on Thursday, December 21 at 7:00 pm PT. It was previously set to release at midnight on December 22, which is the usual release time for a Netflix release.

This is exciting news for fans who have been looking forward to the film since they can watch the film earlier and they don't need to wait until midnight to watch it on their devices.

It is also replicating the traditional theatrical release where films usually have Thursday night previews before their proper release on Friday across the country. Now, the audience can do the same for Rebel Moon but in the comfort of their home instead.

Considering that Netflix usually releases their original content at midnight, this type of release is unusual for them and it could be their experiment on whether a Thursday night release could work on a streaming format.

Recently, they did it on the first season finale of Squid Game: The Challenge where it was released on Wednesday night. It remains to be seen whether it affected the ratings in a positive direction.

Disney+ also did a similar release strategy recently on Ahsoka and the second season of Loki which have some varying successes and they might likely do it again in their upcoming tentpole original shows.

Let's wait and see what kind of results will Netflix receive with the movie's unusual release time and whether they will do it again in their future major releases.
