Zack Snyder's Rebel Moon Comes Out On Netflix

+ 6Zack Snyder got his spotlight on Netflix when he released Army of the Dead and its prequel on the streaming platform. Now, he has a new project coming out on Netflix with the dystopian sci-fi film series titled Rebel Moon. A star-studded cast banners the movie and a powerhouse crew.
Not only that, recently, Zack Snyder spoke with The Nerd Queens podcast where he revealed that Rebel Moon will not only have a movie, there will also be a graphic novel, an animated short, and a role-playing game!
Snyder revealed, “The one thing that I am really having a really good time with is, and I don’t even know if I am supposed to talk about it, this RPG that they’re doing that is just literally insane and so immersive and so intense and so huge. We talked about how we would do that game and we just said, ‘Let’s go.'”

Rebel Moon Release Date: When Will the Zack Snyder's Movie Come Out?
As mentioned, Netflix released a save the date video for the titles that are arriving on the streaming platform this year and that includes Rebel Moon which will be coming out on December 22, 2023, and this would be going toe-to-toe with Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom, from the studio where Snyder worked before.
Rebel Moon Cast: Who are the Actors Included in Zack Snyder's Movie?
click to enlarge + 6An ensemble cast banners Rebel Moon with Sofia Boutella as Kora, the main character of the movie. Boutella will be joined by the lead actor Charlie Hunnam whose role remains undisclosed but he will be her love interest in the film.
Also in the cast are Ray Fisher who will play Blood Axe, Djimon Hounsou who will portray General Titus, the general of the army of Balisarius, Jena Malone, Corey Stoll, Cleopatra Coleman, Fra Fee, Cary Elwes, Stuart Martin, Alfonso Herrera, Doona Bae, Staz Nair, Ray Porter, and Michiel Huisman.
Ed Skrein will be playing Balisarius, the ruthless tyrant who goes through the galaxy to threaten everyone. Ruper Friend was supposedly the one playing the villain but he was replaced after he exits due to schedule conflicts.
Anthony Hopkins will also be in Rebel Moon as the voice of Jimmy, a sentient mechanized robot, JC1435, and he is a defender of the slain King.
Other cast members include E. Duffy, Charlotte Maggi, Sky Yang, Rhian Rees, Josefine Lindegaard, Ingvar Eggert Sigurðsson, Sisse Marie, Danielle Burgio, Kingston Foster, Patrick Luwis, Greg Kriek, Christopher Matthew Cook, Kayden Alexander Koshelev, Savanna Gann, and Thor Knai.

Rebel Moon Crew: Who are the Creative Minds Behind the Scenes?
click to enlarge + 6Zack Snyder will direct, write, produce, and do the cinematography of Rebel Moon. He will be joined by Shay Hatten and Kurt Johnstad as scribes of the movie.
Hatten revealed to Collider, "Rebel Moon is... I mean, it's in the can. It's in post-production right now. Zack [Snyder] is editing away, and I've seen bits and pieces of it. I've seen scenes here and there and a cut of the trailer."
Hatten added, "I tell him this all the time, but 300was one of the first R-rated movies that I convinced my parents to take me to see in theaters, which I think he hates me saying because it makes me seem super young."
Other producers include Deborah Snyder, Wesley Coller, and Eric Newman. The editor of Rebel Moon is Dodo Dorn, and the music will be by Tom Holkenborg.
Netflix will be distributing Rebel Moon with plans of a limited theatrical release and it is expected to have a back-to-back movie with Rebel Moon Part 2.

Rebel Moon Plot: What Will be the Plot of Zack Snyder's Movie?
click to enlarge + 6The official synopsis of Rebel Moon is as follows:
"A peaceful colony on the edge of the galaxy is threatened by the armies of a tyrannical regent named Balisarius. The desperate civilians dispatch Kora, a young woman who has a mysterious past to seek out warriors from nearby planets to help them challenge the regent."
The synopsis of Rebel Moon puts the character of Sofia Boutella, Kora, in the center of it all as she will be the main heroine of the movie where she will be seeing out to the nearest planets to gather warriors as they make a stand against the tyrant, Balisarius.
Definitely, Balisarius is the villain. He's a big man with huge ambitions and he will do it together with his army. Charlie Hunnam is presumably one of the warriors that Kora would be seeking, but she may not only find a warrior to fight alongside her but also some romance.
There will also be Rebel Moon Pat 2 which will continue the narrative so expect the ending to be open-ended.
Interesting enough, Rebel Moon is said to be Zack Snyder's rendition of one of his favorite franchises of all time, Star Wars. There's a lot of similarities, to be fair, like being set in the galaxy, having a heroine that would save everyone, a villain that seeks power. The list could go on!
Speaking with Variety, the VP of Original Studio Film of Netflix, Ori Marmur revealed that Rebel Moon is Zack Snyder's own version of Star Wars, "When we saw how big the world he created was we thought it would be better served as two pieces versus one film. It’s the kind of story that can continue to grow. He thinks of it as his take on making something like 'Star Wars.'"

Netflix plans offers subscriptions depending on the inclusions, the number of people that could share the account, and the ads that comes with it.
