The Hidden Inventory arc is officially over, and following the latest episode, Jujutsu Kaisen Season 2 revealed that it will get another opening for the Shibuya Incident arc.
For this next opening, MAPPA once again enlisted the popular Japanese band King Gnu for a new song. The reveal of King Gnu’s return was made via the show’s official Twitter account.
While the new opening was confirmed, fans will have to wait a while before it gets officially released because the anime is now on a short hiatus.
Jujutsu Kaisen Season 2 Returns Later This Month After a Hiatus
Jujutsu Kaisen is easily one of the most popular shounen anime today, and it is no doubt one of MAPPA’s biggest hits. Because of this, the studio is going all-out with the second season.
The first season already featured excellent animation, but Season 2 switches the style up, giving the fight scenes even more flair, which delighted fans.
This is thanks in large part to new director Shota Goshozono who is a renowned animator and episode director who has worked on shows such as Chainsaw Man, Mob Psycho 100, and more.
Even though the Hidden Inventory arc already featured lots of huge moments, the second season’s highlight is the Shibuya Incident arc given how big the fights are and how massive its implications are to the story.
Because of this, the series is going on a three-week-long break, meaning the show will return at the end of this month.
When the show returns, it will come with a new opening by King Gnu.

King Gnu Returns for Jujutsu Kaisen Season 2’s New OP
On the show’s official Twitter account, it was revealed that King Gnu will return to the series with a new song titled Specialz. The reveal was also made via a new video that played in Shibuya, Tokyo.
This is King Gnu’s third song for the series as the band also worked on the two theme songs of the Jujutsu Kaisen 0 movie.
Aside from Jujutsu Kaisen, King Gnu has also worked on themes for other shows, including Ranking of Kings and Banana Fish.
Along with a new song, it’s expected that the Shibuya Incident will also get a new opening animation, though it’s not clear if this new opening will be used for the rest of the anime.
Jujutsu Kaisen Season 2 will return with Episode 6 on August 31, 2023.
