Aside from being a genius, billionaire, playboy, and philanthropist, Tony Stark has been undoubtedly one of the most irreplaceable characters to exist within the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Not only has Robert Downey Jr.’s performance stunned Marvel fans into thinking nobody could ever play it as greatly as he did, but it also shows just how unique his role was in the billion-dollar franchise.

One of his most memorable quirks was giving out the best nicknames to remember every superhero and villain he encountered throughout his entire run. Here’s a list of Iron Man’s best nicknames for the MCU characters ranked based on their memorability!

Junior

Though Ultron only had one appearance throughout the MCU franchise, he was considered to be a ‘child’ in Tony Stark’s eyes.

Ultron was called ‘Junior’ given that while the Vibranium-built villain was monologuing his attempt to take over the world, Stark fires up his ego (as he usually does) by downsizing his creation, “Aw, junior. You’re gonna break your old man’s heart.”

Squidward

Despite Avengers: Infinity War being one of the most gut-wrenching films among the Avengers movies, Tony Stark wasn’t willing to back down without turning his arguments and battles over with comedic relief.

After encountering one of the Mad Titan’s alien backups, Ebony Maw, firsthand, Iron Man’s initial response was to call him out, “Get lost, Squidward” in an attempt to taunt the species into retreating from taking over Earth with their Flying Donut of a spaceship.

Reindeer Games

Stark continues to prove just how unfiltered he is when it comes to dropping down names, even at their first meeting! Considering this was his initial meeting with Loki, the God of Mischief, Iron Man’s first words were to call him a ‘reindeer’ given his horns from his helmet.

Although this wasn’t kept up for the rest of the future films, it certainly amounted to some moniker Loki could hold on to his character profile on the Time Variance Authority. Who knows?

Build-A-Bear

Considering that Rocket’s tragic backstory had yet to surface in the MCU until Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, Stark calling the Raccoon as ‘Build-A-Bear’ in their first meeting in Avengers: Endgame was pretty spot-on. The less terrifying version, obviously.

At the time, to break the tension in Endgame, Stark decided to say, “Honestly, until this exact second, I thought you were a Build-A-Bear.”

To Rocket, though, he was pretty used to his nicknames. He had been previously called ‘Star-Munch’, ‘Trash panda’, and even a ‘Rabbit’.

Underoos

Spider-Man is Iron Man’s prodigy for a reason, but perhaps not 100% in the way you think.

He may be intelligent and special enough for Stark to completely entrust his technology to someone as young as Peter Parker, but he also became a part of his team as early as in Captain America: Civil War.

Spider-boy seems a bit childish, but it’s how Iron Man saw him as a kid. What really stuck to MCU diehards was how he called Spider-Man, ‘Underoos’, when going up against Cap at the airport.

Capsicle

Though this one didn’t stick and it’s a petty jab when the tech-savvy billionaire met the old-timer Super Soldier Steve Rogers, the Capsicle joke works!

Captain America was frozen for years, a play-on word for ‘popsicle’ and ‘Captain’ or maybe even with ‘icicle’, plus Steve’s eventual nickname took root from his own superhero alias, ‘Cap.’

Point Break

Perhaps one of the funniest nicknames throughout the MCU, Point Break was mentioned as early as the first Avengers movie and was consistently held on a pedestal, especially when Thor had to maneuver a ship that required giving out their Stark-assigned nicknames.

In this case, when the God of Thunder kept referring to himself as the ‘strongest Avenger’, the ship kept rejecting his voice, until eventually, he learned that Point Break was his password.

Super Secret Boy Band

Arguably, a catchy nickname for the Avengers team, the ‘Super Secret Boy Band’ pretty much summarizes Stark’s skepticism of working with Nick Fury under the S.H.I.E.L.D.’s surveillance.

But what made this work was when Hulk returned to Earth in Infinity War and Stark told him that the Avengers split up. Because of that, it led to a joke that hit in theaters, thanks to Banner’s line, “Broke up? Like a band? Like the Beatles?”

The notion behind the Avengers ‘breaking up’ over an argument against the signing of Sokovia Accords was pretty funny to look at, especially from Banner’s perspective, given he wasn’t present during the decision-making.
