Just because they’re superheroes fighting for the safety of the universe doesn’t mean they're not allowed to catch a break, pursue their potential love interests, and even raise their own family as normal people would.

With the continuous expansion of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, there have been many romances that stole the spotlight, while others have yet to bloom. For now, though, here are the 10 best MCU couples ranked from worst to best:

  1. May Parker and Happy Hogan

Perhaps the most surprising turn of events here — May Parker and Happy Hogan shared an instant spark with one another in Spider-Man: Far From Home.

Though this also ended quite quickly when No Way Home came around, the little summer fling brought Happy closer to Peter Parker and MCU fans to see a little side to Happy being, well, beyond Tony Stark’s assistant.

  2. Bruce Banner and Natasha Romanoff

While the Hulk and Black Widow had the most confusing timeline of their slow-burn romance, no MCU diehard could deny the potential of their relationship blooming into something beyond friends and colleagues.

They understood each other and had the cool girl meets the nerd trope going on, however, Marvel didn’t seem to know where this was headed.

Thus, this led to ending the little Will-they-won’t-they spew in Avengers: Infinity War.

  3. Steve Rogers and Peggy Carter

Despite the controversial decision behind Captain America returning to the past for Peggy Carter, the choice of wanting to grow old with her seemed like the better fit for his ending in the billion-dollar franchise altogether.

Considering that he has only ever had one fling (Peggy’s great-grand-niece) since she met her, his loyalty to keeping her picture in his locket whenever he faces his battles with the Avengers definitely called it about time he got his happy ending in Avengers: Endgame.

  4. Stephen Strange and Christine Palmer

Subtle as they go, we didn’t get to see how Doctor Strange and Christine Palmer started off as a couple as we met them in the middle of their long-term relationship.

The problem was in Stephen’s arrogance driving Christine away from him when she was trying to help him at his lowest. Unfortunately, because of this, he had lost the only person who could ever truly love him.

That is, until Doctor Strange 3 comes to fruition soon, then we’d be introduced to a new potential love interest in the Sorcerer Supreme’s future.

  5. Peter Quill and Gamora

A tragic and unlikely fate suffered the stars between Star-Lord and Gamora’s destiny. After having lost the love of his life, Peter Quill sought nothing but to bring back Gamora.

And while they did get to bring her back, per se, into Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, it wasn’t the same Gamora he fell in love with, as she came from an alternate universe and timeline, one where they never met.

Yet when the threequel ended, the alternate Gamora version still caught a glimpse of why her main self ever even fell in love with Quill during their time together.

  6. Makkari and Druig

Similar to how Stephen and Christine had their subtleties, Makkari and Druig’s romance was one for the books.

Both young members of the Eternals, who knew when to play games and yet acted upon saving the human race altogether, definitely held chemistry as high schoolers usually did.

Surprisingly, this romance wasn’t initially supposed to happen. As it turned out, the movie director Chloe Zhao realized the instant spark between the stars (Lauren Ridloff and Barry Keoghan) and decided to add it in, which makes this couple even cuter.

  7. T’Challa and Nakia

The perfect example of why Wakanda continues to thrive under their rule, T’Challa and Nakia prioritize their duties over their romance.

Finding what’s best to serve their country through their own ways may have led to the end of their relationship, but it was out of their mutual agreement rather than through a petty fight.

Not to mention, Nakia bore him a son. Despite being a tad bit late, Prince T’Challa (aka Toussaint) brought the new Black Panther, Shuri, back into the light, as her nephew reminds her of her deceased King and brother.

  8. Peter Parker and Michelle Jones

One of the purest forms of love usually begins in high school and that is the case with Peter Parker and MJ.

Despite the short-lived relationship, these two sparked chemistry beyond the big screens, considering Tom Holland and Zendaya ended up dating in real life, as well!

This leaves a grim future for the two in the MCU, especially since MJ has had her memories of him wiped entirely, which could mean either of two things: she gets her memories back or Spidey finds a new love interest in the franchise.

  9. Tony Stark and Pepper Potts

Of course, the second closest comes from the MCU’s first Mightiest Hero that made the billion-dollar franchise possible — Tony Stark and Ms. Pepper Potts.

Their relationship progression from merely being colleagues to eventual lovers and a family with their daughter, Morgan H. Stark, is worth putting on this list, considering this was the life Tony would have wanted for himself, had he not needed to sacrifice his life to save the universe.

  10. Wanda and Vision

They have their own show, for Pete’s sake! But apart from that, even though Vision technically came from being one of Tony Stark’s artificial assistants to becoming a synthetic humanoid to evolving into a real-life human being, his feelings for Wanda were pretty much real.

Wanda, after having lost her entire family, dreamed of raising one with ‘Vis’ even from beyond his grave.

Enough to conjure up an imaginary world where they lived happily ever after, even if it meant making up a sitcom about the life they would have led together.

But this isn’t where Wanda’s story ends, as we’ll likely be seeing her twin sons again as they officially debut as one of the youngest MCU heroes in the upcoming WandaVision spinoff, Agatha: Coven of Chaos.
