A lot of fans are looking forward to the upcoming Fantastic Four reboot which will finally introduce the First Family into the MCU after years of anticipation and teases from Marvel Studios regarding their plans for the characters.

As a result of the writers' and actors' strike, there hasn't been a lot of progress regarding the development of the project which is scheduled to begin production by early next year ahead of its planned 2025 release.

There has also been a lot of casting rumors around the web regarding the actors that are allegedly attached to play the MCU's First Family although Marvel Studios has not made any confirmation themselves.

Now, as we're getting closer to its planned production start date and the recent conclusion of the writers' strike, we finally have a new update on the project which suggests that things are still on the track for the project.

Reporter Umberto Gonzalez provided a brief update on X regarding Fantastic Four where he revealed that the film is currently testing its camera lenses which is a sign that the project is now deep into pre-production.

"Lil nugget Marvel Studio news: They're testing lenses today at Panavision for #FantasticFour," he wrote in his post.

While the behind-the-scenes update isn't significant by any means, it is exciting news nonetheless since it shows that the film is still definitely on its way and the pre-production is on time ahead of its planned filming early next year.

It also helps that the writers' strike finally ended and the writers who are attached to the current draft of the script can now work again and do some revisions based on the notes from the director and producers.

However, the actors' strike is still ongoing so we won't be hearing any official casting news until it ends which will hopefully happen in a few weeks since the actors' guild and studios are set to have a meeting next week.

If the actors' strike doesn't end soon, there is a likelihood that they won't be able to make it on its planned filming date early next year and they could experience another delay once again.

For now, everything is still on track for the project based on the little nugget that we learned and this should give hope for fans who have been looking forward to it.

Fantastic Four is slated for release in theaters on May 2, 2025.
