For months, we've been hearing a lot of rumors and speculations surrounding the casting of the MCU reboot of Fantastic Four as the film is set to begin production by early next year.

Recently, we saw the first major signal on the casting news for the film as reports have confirmed that Pedro Pascal is currently in talks to play Reed Richards and his schedule is still being sorted out since he is also attached to other projects.

We've also heard some casting rumors for the other characters in the First Family, but none of them have been confirmed by either Marvel Studios or reported by the major trades.

Aside from the four heroes, fans are also waiting for news surrounding the casting of the villain of the film who is presumed to be Galactus.

Now, it looks like the studio is eyeing an Oscar winner to play the First Family's adversary.

According to reporter Jeff Sneider, Marvel Studios is eyeing Oscar-winning actor Javier Bardem to play the villain Galactus in the MCU reboot of Fantastic Four.

However, his report emphasized that no official deal has been made yet with the actor since scheduling might prevent him from doing the MCU film as he is currently working on the untitled Brad Pitt F1 movie that is about to resume production.

Previously, rumors claimed that Antonio Banderas was eyed to potentially play Galactus in the film, but it was never reported by the major trades and industry journalists.

If Bardem does end up signing on to play Galactus, he will be a major coup for Marvel Studios since he is a talented actor as proven by the numerous accolades that he received throughout his career.

He is also known for playing villainous roles and he even won an Oscar for playing one in No Country for Old Men. He was also the villain in the James Bond film Skyfall, which is considered to be one of the best entries in the franchise.

Hopefully, scheduling and negotiations will work out although fans should prepare for the possibility of his casting not happening and we might end up hearing another name instead when it finalizes.

Fantastic Four is slated for release in theaters on May 2, 2025.
