The Marvel Cinematic Universe fandom went absolutely mental this week when news surrounding Pedro Pascal's potential involvement in the Fantastic Four reboot made waves online.

Turns out, the star of The Mandalorian and The Last of Us is Marvel Studios' top pick to play Mister Fantastic in the anticipated project and according to multiple sources, while nothing official has been set in stone, he's very close to signing a deal with the billion-dollar franchise.

Previously, reports claimed that Jake Gyllenhaal, who starred as Quentin Beck aka Mysterio in Spider-Man: Far From Home was the frontrunner for the role but ultimately turned down the studio's offer.

Instagram artist @spdrmnkyxiii took to the photo-sharing platform to unveil his "fantastic" artwork depicting the Chilean star as Earth-616's Reed Richards.

It's pretty straightforward, just Pascal in the F4 suit showcasing Reed's elastic powers and while he doesn't really resemble the beloved character, the artwork gives you an idea of how he'd look as the Smartest Man Alive.

Despite being reported by several outlets already, Marvel Studios has yet to confirm the authenticity of the news so it's still best to take things with a huge grain of salt.

Meanwhile, fans have had mixed reactions to Pascal's potential MCU role and while some folks believe he's a phenomenal actor that would do the role justice, others think he's not the right guy for the job. I guess we'll just have to wait and see.

Marvel Studios' Fantastic Four reboot is currently slated to hit cinemas on May 2, 2025.
