A lot of fans have been looking forward to the MCU reboot of Fantastic Four and finally seeing the First Family become part of the universe. The film is currently set to be released next year.

They've also been patiently waiting to find out which actors they are going to cast to play the four heroes. So far, only Pedro Pascal has been confirmed by the trades to be in talks to star in the film.

Now, we have a new update on the development of the film and it looks like it is no longer set to begin production on its original planned date.

According to reporter Jeff Sneider, Fantastic Four is delaying its filming date to later this year. It is now slated to roll its cameras in Q3 (around July to September).

He also speculated that there is a likelihood that the film's release will also be pushed to another date as a result of the shift.

The MCU project's filming delay news came as Sneider also reported that Pascal has exited the Zach Cregger horror film Weapons to clear his schedule for Fantastic Four.

The actor is currently preparing for the filming of the second season of The Last of Us this February. Once he's done with his commitment to the HBO series (which is likely to be a shorter time based on his character's fate in the video game), he will segue into the MCU film.

There is no doubt that this is a concerning update for fans since they have to wait a little longer now for the casting news on the film since they have more time again for pre-production.

However, on the bright side, it is an indication that Pascal is committed now to starring in the MCU film since he is clearing his schedule and making sure that he has time to do the project.

For now, let's wait for more news and updates regarding the development of the film in the coming months.

Fantastic Four is currently slated for release in theaters on May 2, 2025.
