Avengers: The Kang Dynasty is one of the upcoming MCU films that are currently in the works. It is also set to be the first part of the culmination of the Multiverse Saga that will officially conclude with Secret Wars a year later.

So far, the development of the film has already hit some obstacles as we learned recently that director Destin Daniel Cretton left the project while Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania's Jeff Loveness also exited as the writer.

It is clear at this point that the film is retooling its creative direction and fans have been curious to see which new writer and director will Marvel Studios hire to take over the vacated positions.

Now, it looks like they have tapped a familiar MCU writer to fill in the screenplay duty of the film.

Deadline has confirmed that Loki creator Michael Waldron is now set to write the screenplay for Avengers: The Kang Dynasty following Loveness' exit from the project.

He was already set to write Avengers: Secret Wars, but now he is going to pen the scripts for both parts of the upcoming Avengers films. Marvel Studios is still looking for directors.

With Waldron's hiring in this project, it is a sign that the studio is putting a lot of trust in him to oversee the culmination of the Multiverse Saga. Aside from creating Loki, he also penned Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness which also dealt a lot with the multiverse concept.

It's still early to tell what kind of creative direction the project may have since we're still around halfway into the saga and we have not seen the bigger picture of what they're trying to do in the story leading to the culmination of events.

Looking at Waldron's name as one of the key creatives attached to the film, it could be promising for many fans who liked his past works in the MCU and this might be exciting news for them and feel that the project is in good hands.

Now, all eyes are on the new director that Marvel Studios will hire to helm the film and what kind of input will they have when they sign on to the project.

Avengers: The Kang Dynasty is slated for release in theaters on May 1, 2026.
