Avengers: The Kang Dynasty is set to be one of the many upcoming MCU films that is set to release in the coming years and it is also the first part of the two Avengers movies that will conclude the Multiverse Saga by the end of its run.

However, there have been some questions surrounding the future of Kang the Conqueror in the MCU due to the ongoing legal issues of Jonathan Majors. The second season finale of Loki has also paved the way for the MCU to either continue exploring the character or not in the future.

So far, the film is still part of the official MCU slate and Marvel Studios has not indicated any changes on their plans for the film or the future of the villain.

Now, it looks like the project is set to have a massive overhaul as it loses one of its key creatives.

Deadline has confirmed that Destin Daniel Cretton is no longer directing Avengers: The Kang Dynasty. He is still part of the MCU family as he remains involved in Wonder Man, Shang-Chi 2, and is in talks to direct more future movies.

The news comes as reports also revealed that Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania writer Jeff Loveness is no longer penning the screenplay of the film and Marvel is potentially moving away from the Kang storyline.

This is an interesting development for the film since it no longer has a writer and director attached. It suggests a massive overhaul for the project and hints that it might have a new creative direction.

It won't be surprising if the film will no longer be called "The Kang Dynasty" and perhaps change it with a new title or possibly turn it into the first part of Secret Wars instead.

Marvel Studios is also possibly reassessing its plans for the future of the saga in the midst of the changes that are happening in the franchise, the backlash that it has gotten recently on its recent releases, and the aforementioned issue with Majors.

For now, if we can make a guess, there will possibly be some massive changes when we hear Marvel's next presentation or series of announcements that they'll do in the near future and one of them is likely going to be about the fifth Avengers movie.

Avengers: The Kang Dynasty is slated for release in theaters on May 1, 2026.
