After Jonathan Majors was found guilty of harassment and assault against his ex-girlfriend Grace Jabbari and fired by Marvel Studios, MCU fans started to wonder about the fate of the upcoming Avengers 5 movie that is supposedly titled Avengers: The Kang Dynasty.

So far, Marvel Studios has not announced whether the role of Kang the Conqueror will be recast with a different actor or pivot to a different villain as the main big baddie of the Multiverse Saga.

If they decide to not recast the role of Kang and retire the character, it would mean that the next Avengers movie will no longer be titled "The Kang Dynasty" and they will focus on a different storyline on the culminating event.

Now, we have a new update on the development of the fifth Avengers movie following the firing of Majors.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Marvel Studios is still moving forward with Avengers 5 following the firing of Jonathan Majors yesterday.

However, the film is no longer titled Avengers: The Kang Dynasty and is currently being referred to as "Avengers 5" internally in the studio.

The project has undergone behind-the-scenes changes for the past several weeks as Destin Daniel Cretton exited as the director of the film with no filmmaker set yet to take over the duty.

Michael Waldron was also recently tapped as the new writer of the film after Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania writer Jeff Loveness was let go from the project months ago.

Now that the next Avengers movie is no longer going to be titled "The Kang Dynasty," it suggests that the MCU will likely move on from Kang the Conqueror and focus on a different villain in the upcoming culminating events of the Multiverse Saga.

Reporter Jeff Sneider claimed in his recent newsletter that he heard from sources that Secret Wars is shaping up to be a "giant five-hour movie with a year-long intermission" which hints that the Avengers movies might end up becoming a Secret Wars two-parter instead.

For now, let's wait and see how it will all unfold in the coming months as Marvel Studios is still figuring out what they need to do in the future of the MCU now in the aftermath of Majors' verdict and firing.

Avengers 5 is slated for release in theaters on May 1, 2026.
