The production for the upcoming MCU movie Thunderbolts experienced a major setback last year as a result of delays related to the Hollywood labor strikes. It is now set to begin filming this coming spring.

However, with its new start date, we learned recently that Steven Yeun has exited the project due to scheduling conflicts that arose from the delay. Top Gun: Maverick star Lewis Pullman eventually got cast to take over the role.

Now, we have a new casting update on the highly-anticipated movie as they have lost another cast member who was supposed to join the MCU.

According to Deadline, Ayo Edebiri is no longer joining the cast of Thunderbolts. She exited the MCU movie due to scheduling conflicts caused by the production delay.

Miracle Workers and Blockers star Geraldine Viswanathan is taking over the role that the Emmy winner was supposed to play in the film.

The details regarding the character that the actress is now set to play in the MCU movie are still being kept under wraps.

Viswanathan also commented on her casting news in her Instagram story post. She wrote, "Thank you to my friend Ayo Edebiri for being too booked. Hey Marvel."

It's not surprising to hear another recasting news on Thunderbolts as a result of the delay and it was inevitable to hear these changes once they made it official that filming is now set to begin a year after its original start date.

Edebiri is also set to begin working on the third season of The Bear around the same time as the MCU movie starts its production which led to some fans already speculating on her potential exit before it was made official.

We don't know yet what role Viswanathan is set to play in the MCU movie, but we have seen from her past works that she is a good comedic actress and it's interesting to see whether her character will also lean into that tone or it will be a more serious role instead.

Thunderbolts is slated for release in theaters on July 25, 2025.
