The final episode of The Mandalorian Season 3 is finally here and it delivered several major surprises that left fans with mixed emotions. While people celebrated the death of one character, everyone mourned the demise of another.
In The Mandalorian Season 3 Episode 8, Bo-Katan Kryze managed to escape the Imperial base while Din Djarin escapes the guards with Grogu's help. While Bo-Katan and her reinforcements fought off the beskar-enhanced stormtroopers, Djarin and Grogu infiltrated Moff Gideon's control room and destroyed his clones.
Gideon ultimately confronts Djarin and Grogu who are then joined by Bo-Katan. Djarin and Grogu take on Gideon's Praetorian guards while Bo-Katan fights Gideon using the Darksaber. During the fight, Gideon grabs Bo-Katan's hand and crushes the Darksaber's hilt.
It's a shocking destruction considering what the Darksaber stands for and its storied history in the Star Wars Universe. Needless to say, fans were devastated that the weapon would be destroyed so easily in The Mandalorian Season 3 finale.
The idea of the Darksaber being destroyed also suggested that Bo-Katan Kryze will not have it in case she turns up in Ahsoka. On the other hand, people are hopeful that the Armorer will repair the weapon at the Great Forge and it will be back soon enough.
Despite the death of the Darksaber, The Mandalorian Season 3 Episode 8 concluded on a hopeful note. The Mandalorians managed to take Mandalore back after Moff Gideon was killed while Din Djarin officially adopted Grogu as his son and apprentice. The two then settled down in Nevarro in what appeared to be an excellent happy ever after, at least, for now. Still, we can't wait to see what happens next for them in the fourth season.
