Gunn recently posted a photo on Instagram (via The Direct) where he shared the various Superman artworks that are on the wall of his production office for Superman: Legacy.

One of the followers asked the director in the comments if the film's rumored Middle East storyline is true.

"It isn't true," Gunn simply responded, debunking the rumor once and for all.

There you go, the DC Studios co-chairman has confirmed that the film's rumored Middle East storyline is not true and Gunn has no plans at all to tackle that in his own Superman movie.

This could relieve a lot of fans who have been concerned about the idea ever since the rumor surfaced and felt that the timing is not right given the current situation in the region.

Some audiences would also rather see the movie not reflect all of the real-life events that are happening at the moment and they want it to be simply an escapist story.

Now, they can put down those concerns and expect a purely fictional movie that simply focuses on its own world itself. It's interesting to see now what kind of direction and world-setting Gunn actually focuses on.

Superman: Legacy is slated for release in theaters on July 11, 2025.
