Superman: Legacy is set to be the first film in the DCU franchise under James Gunn and Peter Safran. The new Superman movie will be yet again another take on the iconic superhero as they recently cast the new actors who will play Clark Kent and Lois Lane.

Since the film will explore the character's younger years again, a lot of fans are wondering whether it will also mean that Gunn will be retelling his origin story starting with Kal-El as a baby during the destruction of Krypton.

Now, as Gunn and his team are currently preparing for the film's production early next year, we finally have the answer.

As reported by The Direct, Gunn confirmed in his Bluesky account that Superman: Legacy will not feature the hero's origin story since previous films have already explored it before.

"I think we've seen his origin enough in film at this time!" he wrote in his post.

The DC Studios co-chairman also confirmed when he responded to a fan on Instagram that "there is no Young Clark" in his film.

Richard Donner's Superman and Man of Steel notably featured the character's origin story from Krypton to his grownup years on Smallville during the earlier part before showing how they officially became the hero that we know and love.

This will mark the first time that the first Superman movie in the series won't feature the character's origin which is a welcomed change for fans since we have seen various iterations of it in films, TV shows, and, obviously, comics.

They are also following the playbook of Spider-Man: Homecoming which was Tom Holland's first solo movie as Spider-Man in the MCU but did not explore his origin story of how he got his powers since previous iterations have done it before.

Considering that the general audience is already familiar with how Kal-El/Clark Kent became the hero Superman, we can safely say that Gunn's decision to skip his origin will not be an issue and he is now just focusing on showing his heroic adventure from beginning to end.

As long as Gunn tells a great Superman story, the audience wouldn't definitely mind the absence of his origin story and this is an opportunity for them to witness a very fresh take on the character that was never done before.
