A set photo from the filming of James Gunn's Superman is currently surfacing online which gave us our first look at the Fortress of Solitude.
Production is currently underway for the highly-anticipated first movie in the new DCU franchise. It commenced last February 29 which also happened to be the same day as Superman's birthday.
Now, we finally have our first glimpse at the Man of Steel's home base which was shot in Europe.

Superman Movie Set Photo Shows Fortress of Solitude in Norway
Thanks to the Norwegian outlet Svalbardposten, we finally have our first set photo of the filming of Gunn's Superman.
They revealed that the Fortress of Solitude scenes are being filmed in Svalbard, Norway. They also showed a photo featuring various equipment that is being used while shooting in the Arctic area.
Gunn explained to the outlet why they chose Svalbard as the filming location of Superman's home base.
"We have filmed the first scenes which are when Superman flees to the ice fortress. We wanted a place that was beautiful and felt like being in the middle of the Arctic, so we looked at several places in the world," he said (via a translated quote in the article).
"But there were many things that sold Svalbard for us over the other places. First, there is the natural beauty. But also the fact that you'll find a varied landscape here that you won't find anywhere else. Nature gives a special feeling."
While the set photo didn't give us a major preview of the film itself, it is still an exciting tease since it suggests that Gunn and his team are doing mostly practical sets for the filming of the Fortress of Solitude scenes.
It is likely that we will encounter more set photos as production continues to go underway in the coming weeks.
Superman is slated to release in theaters on July 11, 2025.
