Despite its long-gestated development, Taika Waititi is still working on his Star Wars movie as he revealed recently in various interviews and he is keen to make the project happen in the midst of his very busy schedule at the moment.

So far, the plot details surrounding the movie are still under wraps, but it is expected to have the Oscar winner's signature style and tone which may divide some fans as we've seen in the reception of Thor: Love and Thunder.

Given the lack of actual information on what Waititi's take on the Star Wars universe will look like, it made some fans wonder what his movie will evoke and whether it will be influenced by the other films in the franchise.

In his recent guest appearance on The Kelly Clarkson Show, Waititi briefly talked about his Star Wars movie where he explained that he is taking his time to develop it as he wants to get the project right.

He also shared that he plans to evoke the "joy" of the original trilogy, particularly The Empires Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi.

"I've been developing that for a few years, but I think with any film, but that one in particular, it's something I'd really like to get right so I don't want to rush it. It's going to bubble along on the side. It's exciting," Waititi said.

"I wanna capture that joy and entertainment of those early ones like The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi and all those ones, so I'm trying to figure that out. It will happen."

Once again, the Oscar winner is iterating here that he is still making his Star Wars movie no matter what and he is working at his own pace since he wants to make sure that it will be as great as it can be.

For the past few years, Lucasfilm has been notorious for shelving a couple of Star Wars projects and it made some people concerned about Waititi's movie. Fortunately, that is not the case anytime soon and it is still in development as far as we know.

With the recent promotion of Dave Filoni as the chief creative officer, perhaps Waititi might also be waiting for his feedback to see if his script is working or needs to be improved.

For now, let's wait and see how it all unfolds in the coming years as it might take a while before we'll hear a definitive update on whether it will move forward to production or not.
