Taika Waititi is generating a ton of buzz this week after it was confirmed that the director won't be involved in the next Thor film, a project that was recently rumored to be in the works.

Of course, it's no secret to many of you that Thor: Love and Thunder, for all the hype it generated prior to its release didn't hit the mark with MCU fans. In fact, it was poorly received that folks are deeming it one of the worst Marvel films to date.

The good thing is, his MCU misfire isn't going to deter Waititi, and following his surprising MCU exit, it appears that he's finally shifting his focus to a galaxy far, far away.

Earlier this week, Entertainment Tonight caught up with Waititi who pretty much debunked the rumors surrounding the cancelation of his Star Wars flick. Waititi claims that he's still developing something with Lucasfilm although his project will have to be pushed back to make way for his other commitments.

Taika said: "At the moment, I'm still developing something with them. Like me, they have a lot of projects going on. I think they're gonna push it until I finish these other projects. I've got about four other scripts that I'm trying to finish. My thing is I want to take my time with that and get it right. I don't want to rush this movie."

In a separate interview with Variety, the IG-11 voice actor teased what his film will be about, trolling fans in the process. "It will be … dramatic pause… a Taika Waititi film," the director says. Adding: "It's gonna piss people off".

To be fair, Waititi has already directed an episode for The Mandalorian which turned out to be one of the show's strongest entries so there's no denying that he'll do a pretty good job with his Star Wars film despite what fans think of his body of work after Thor 4.

Taika Waititi's Star Wars film doesn't have a release window yet. For now, you can stream Thor: Love and Thunder on Disney+.
