Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings star Simu Liu recently teased his potential involvement in the highly-anticipated Avengers 5 film.

The actor made his MCU debut in the 2021 film. However, since then, he hasn't made more appearances in the franchise and a sequel remains in development with Destin Daniel Cretton attached to direct again.

There has been speculation from fans that Shang-Chi will be one of the heroes that will be featured in Avengers 5, although Marvel remains mum on the details of the team-up movie.

Speaking with ComicBook.com during the red carpet premiere of Arthur the King, Liu was asked about his MCU future and whether he will be involved in Avengers 5.

He responded by saying that he is not yet aware of his potential role in the film but he is looking forward to starring again in the sequel and working with Cretton.

"Oh man, I don't know to be honest. I mean, those things are so above my pay grade. I just wanna continue to be a fan of it," Liu said.

"You know, when I get a call of like, 'Hey, this is what you're in and this is where you're going to show up and this is when you're going to need to be blacked out for.' That's kind of generally what tends to happen."

The actor added, "But, you know Destin is such a special filmmaker and we're very happy to have him on the sequel. So, he'll be working on that and we're really excited to see what he comes up with. I think he's going to do a brilliant job."

Since Marvel Studios is known for being secretive about their future projects, it's not surprising that Liu played coy in his response and was likely not aware of his potential role in the film.

The Avengers project also recently experienced setbacks as Cretton exited as the director and Jonathan Majors, who was supposed to be the main villain of the film, was fired from any future involvement in the franchise.

The search is still underway for a new director who will take over the project and finally lead it in the right direction.
