Sam Raimi has finally addressed the rumors surrounding his alleged involvement in the MCU film Avengers: Secret Wars.

For the past few months, there have been rumors that the Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness director is being eyed to potentially helm the MCU team-up film.

So far, Marvel Studios has not announced a director for the project as the search is reportedly still underway. Michael Waldron, who also penned the Doctor Strange sequel, is currently working on the script.

Speaking with ScreenGeek during WonderCon, Raimi was asked about his rumored involvement as the director of Avengers: Secret Wars.

He revealed that he is not attached to directing the MCU film, but he is hoping that Marvel Studios will offer him the job.

"I love 90% of the Marvel heroes that I’ve read in the great Stan Lee Marvel Universe comic books. I would love to work with Marvel again. They haven’t reasonably asked me to. I hope they had a good experience with me. They haven’t asked me yet. I hope they do," Raimi said.

If Raimi ends up getting tapped for the project, some fans might be happy with the news. Not only because he is a great filmmaker, but he has a long-standing history with Marvel movies.

As most fans know, he is the director of the original Spider-Man trilogy starring Tobey Maguire. He returned to the Marvel Universe with Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.

Given his experience with the Marvel franchise and a multiverse-centric project, he is an ideal choice for Secret Wars based on qualifications alone and he could bring his own style again just like what he did with his previous MCU work.

For now, fans should wait and see for news and updates regarding the development of Secret Wars and it is likely that we will hear an official word on the director very soon.

Avengers: Secret Wars is scheduled to release in theaters on May 7, 2027.
