Sam Raimi has finally addressed the possibility of Spider-Man 4 with Tobey Maguire as the project has been heavily rumored for a few years now.

Since Maguire's return as the web-slinger in No Way Home, fans have been clamoring for him to star in another solo movie. It's been widely known that Sony and Raimi were working on a fourth installment before it was shelved.

There have also been rumors that there are plans to bring back Maguire as the web-slinger again in a new installment with Raimi directing again although neither Marvel nor Sony have confirmed its existence.

Speaking with CBR, Raimi was asked about the rumors surrounding the alleged development of a fourth Spider-Man movie with Maguire returning.

While the director acknowledged the rumor, he confirmed that it is not true and it is unlikely that it will happen anytime soon due to the success of the current iteration of the Spider-Man films.

"Well, I haven't heard about that yet. I did read that, but I'm not actually working on it yet," Raimi said.

"I mean, Marvel and Columbia are so successful with current Spider-Man [movies], and the track there, and I don't know that they're going to go back to me, and say, 'Well, folks, we can also tell that story!' I'm not sure, but I love all the new Spider-Man movies. I loved Spider-Man: No Way Home. It was really, super powerful seeing Tobey again in it."

Raimi also revealed that he has not discussed with Maguire the possibility of doing a fourth movie.

He added, "I haven't talked to Tobey about it, but maybe Marvel has, or Columbia Pictures. But, I just worked with Marvel on a movie called Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. So, I'm on great terms with them. I'm sure I would hear about it if it was in the works. I think so. I don't know."

Despite the clamoring from fans, it looks like Spider-Man 4 with Maguire is not happening at all anytime soon and Marvel and Sony are more focused on the Tom Holland iteration.

However, it is likely that we might see Maguire again in another Marvel project since it's also been rumored that he will show up in Avengers: Secret Wars and that would be the best avenue for him to play his iconic character again.
