As The Mandalorian Season 3 comes to a close, Grand Admiral Thrawn creator Timothy Zahn teases more Star Wars projects involving the iconic franchise villain.
The last time we’ve seen Grand Admiral Thrawn was back in two seasons of the animated Star Wars series Rebels, only for him to disappear after. That is, until Ahsoka came to life.
Apart from his anticipated return, Thrawn is set to be portrayed by his Rebels voice actor Lars Mikkelsen, which has been confirmed in the official teaser trailer for Ahsoka. Check out the video below:
“I would like to write more [Star Wars] novels. And we pitch ideas to Lucasfilm.” Zahn said at an event in Paris (via Cloneweb).
“As for [Grand Admiral Thrawn], there’s a nine-year gap between the end of Rebels and the character’s reappearance to do during this time.” Zahn added, “I’ll keep you up-to-date!”

It is worth noting that this may be a part of what Jon Favreau previously reassured fans with, seeing as they have already settled on extending the Star Wars universe with more stories approved under Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy.
“We’re making sure that for the people who are watching all of [Star Wars], it’s additive, and it helps add greater insight to what’s happening in the Star Wars galaxy.” Favreau said.
It is possible that Grand Admiral Thrawn’s return is no one-time thing.
In fact, this could set a bigger future for more Star Wars series, which could even include the developing film involving Daisy Ridley’s return.
The most Zahn has teased involves the nine-year gap we missed between Rebels and Ahsoka, where the developing series or film could potentially show how Thrawn managed to return to his spotlight.
Though many fans poked fun at Mikkelsen’s live version of the Chiss, we have yet to see the actor pull off his character once more.
