All of Nick Fury’s behind-the-scenes have led up to today’s recently released MCU series, Secret Invasion.
Now that we’ll get to see more of Fury compared to the previous MCU films and series he had cameos in, perhaps this could lead to a bigger butterfly effect occurring within the multiverse.
The main conflict Secret Invasion has to resolve is to prevent the Skrulls from infiltrating planet Earth and that is with the help of Nick Fury, a couple of Agents from S.H.I.E.L.D., and Talos.
You might be wondering, could Secret Invasion lead to Avengers: Secret Wars?

Are Secret Invasion and Secret Wars The Same?
I know what you’re thinking, both titles have the same first name and given the nature of ‘invasion’ and ‘war’ correlating with one another, surely it must mean something in the MCU, right?
And it's the MCU, anything could happen!
Well, for starters, you might have heard that one of the MCU’s upcoming Avengers films is titled, Avengers: Secret Wars. The film is said to tie in closely with Avengers: The Kang Dynasty, in which both will involve the idea of multiverse collision.
However, Secret Invasion and Secret Wars are not the same.
Secret Invasion is an ongoing series (as of current) on Disney Plus, while Avengers: Secret Wars is pretty much a part of the Avengers franchise whose story will be told in the form of a movie.
Secret Invasion heeds the main character of the story, Nick Fury, as he returns to Earth after five years in which he was gone from The Blip, all the while commandeering the S.A.B.E.R. space station alongside Skrulls refugees.
In six episodes, Fury would have to prevent the numerous bombing terrorist attacks the Skrulls are planning in order to slowly infiltrate Earth and make it as their own home planet.
As for Avengers: Secret Wars, though Marvel Studios and Disney have yet to release its official synopsis, the film will likely be based on the Marvel Comics bearing the same title.
In the comics, Secret Wars will feature a multiverse fight of heroes going up against heroes within the MCU, a tournament in which will be held by an all-powerful entity known as the Beyonder, who we have yet to see make his live-action debut in the MCU.

Will Marvel’s Secret Invasion Lead To Secret Wars?
Considering that Secret Invasion is going to inevitably lead on what is set to happen in The Marvels, there is one specific thing about the Disney Plus series that could link to Avengers: Secret Wars: The Skrulls.
The Skrulls, at least the bad ones aiming to terrorize earth with bombings to build their new empire and home planet Skrullos, will likely have a play in the butterfly effect that could eventually affect the multiverse in the MCU.
They have the ability to shapeshift and could possibly infiltrate the earth under the pretense of disguising themselves as one of the Avengers, or even unite with the Beyonder we will be meeting before or during Avengers: Secret Wars.
As of now, since Secret Invasion has just begun, it is likely we’ll have to wait for a few more MCU films and series to watch this unfold the connection, the potential aftermath that Secret Invasion could take effect on what would transpire in Avengers: Secret Wars.
It is also important to take note that Avengers: Secret Wars is currently slated to release on May 7, 2027, after Avengers: The Kang Dynasty premieres on May 1, 2026.
Whether or not we'll get to see Secret Invasion lead to the events of Avengers: Secret Wars remains a mystery, but since not everything in the MCU is directly adapted from its comics counterpart, we could be looking at a potential linking story here.
Remember: Secret Invasion, after all, is the aftermath of Nick Fury abandoning his duties on earth after The Blip had happened. Now that he lost a crucial ally by his side, how will he prevent the Skrulls from infiltrating our planet?
