Secret Invasion was first released as a comic book in 2008. It tells the story of how the Skrulls have slowly invaded the Earth because their home has been destroyed by Galactus. Through the years, the Skrulls have kidnapped and impersonated superheroes and politicians for them to take over the world.
As the title suggests, the Earth was left unprepared for the attack, as SHIELD is riddled with internal conflict and the superheroes try their best to distinguish who is a friend and who is a foe (who is Skrull?). Against all odds, the Avengers win but now without paying a high price.
The events in Secret Invasion altered the course of the Marvel Universe in the years to come.

Secret Invasion Release Date: When Will the Marvel Movie Come Out?
Secret Invasion will premiere and start streaming on June 21, 2023.
Secret Invasion in the 2022 SDCC
During the 2022 San Diego Comic-Con, Kevin Feige announced that Secret Invasion would be streaming on Disney+ by Spring 2023.
Secret Invasion Production
Secret Invasion has been in development since 2019, but the series has faced many long delays brought about by the pandemic. Production of the series began in September 2021, which means that we may finally watch the series sometime in late 2022.
Marvel Japan
During their 2022 lineup release, The Cosmic Circus caught a posting on the Marvel Japan site which included the Secret Invasion and What If…? Season 2. The site soon edited the post and removed Secret Invasion and What If…? Season 2 from the list, but this raised fans' hope that the show will premiers this year.
However, since there are no confirmed release dates yet, we can only cross our fingers and hope for the best.
Secret Invasion Cast: Who are the Actors Included in the Marvel Series?
Secret Invasion is keeping everything a big secret, even most of its cast.
Nick Fury and Talos
The only cast with confirmed characters in the series is Samuel L. Jackson and Ben Mendelsohn. Samuel L. Jackson will return to play his role as Nick Fury. Ben Mendelsohn will also reprise his role as Talos.
We got a cute first look at Nick Fury's costume in the movie through a Funko. This collectible may be the beginning of more promotional materials coming out for Secret Invasion.
The Secret Invasion Cast
The other actors joining the series are Olivia Colman, Killian Scott, and Christopher McDonald. The most recent addition to the cast is Martin Freeman. Cobie Smulders will also return as Maria Hill.
Kingsley Ben-Adir will reportedly play a villain in the series, along with Don Cheadle and Ben Mendelsohn.
Emilia Clarke as Veranke
Early reports have shown that Emilia Clarke will play Veranke, an intelligent and well-trained spy. However, Daniel Richtman recently revealed via his Patreon account that Clarke would play G'iah, a famous Skrull. There has still been no confirmation who Clarke's character will be.
Secret Invasion Crew: Who are the Creatives Behind the Scenes?
Thomas Bezucha and Ali Selim will be directing the series, and Kyle Bradstreet will be writing some of the episodes.
Secret Invasion Plot: What Will be the Plot of the Marvel Series?
Secret Invasion will have a total of six episodes. Producer Kevin Feige says that Secret Invasion will explore the events during the Blip, the period after Thanos made the snap.
We catch our first glimpse of the series during the post-credit scenes of Spider-Man: Far From Home, which places the series after the Avengers: Endgame. There is no confirmed plot for the series yet. Still, based on what we know, the events in Secret Invasion may drastically shift the stories of the next superhero shows because we may soon learn that several Marvel heroes are actually Skrulls.
If the Secret Invasion follows the plot of the Marvel comic book, Fury will still be the one who saves the day. After everyone believes he was dead and that all hope is gone because SHIELD no longer existed, thanks to everything that happened in The Winter Soldier, Fury returns to lead our last defense against the aliens invading the Earth.
However, if we consider the post-credit scenes in the Spider-Man: Far From Home, we may see Fury establishing SWORD, the space-oriented sister agency of SHIELD. The MCU hasn’t been following the comic books by word for word, so there is a chance that we will see a different alien race invading the Earth altogether.
Secret Invasion in 2022 San Diego Comic-Con
During the 2022 SDCC, Colbie Smulders (who plays Maria Hill in the series) talked about Secret Invasion.
This is a darker show. We're going to get deeper into the characters. We're going to see them in new ways, and it's going to be an exciting thriller, and you're never going to know who people are. Are they a Skrull? Are they a human? It's going to be a bit of a guessing game.
Secret Invasion Disney+ Synopsis
Disney+ released a synopsis for Secret Invasion on its site, teasing Secret Invasion as a big crossover event series for the MCU.
"Secret Invasion" is a newly announced series heading to Disney+ that stars Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury and Ben Mendelsohn as the Skrull Talos—characters who first met in “Captain Marvel.” The crossover event series showcases a faction of shape-shifting Skrulls who have been infiltrating Earth for years.
Secret Invasion Trailer: Is There a Trailer for the Series?
The official trailer for Secret Invasion was released during the 2022 D23 Expo held in September. In the trailer, we see Nick Fury prepare to defend the Earth as he believes he is the final hope.
The second official trailer for the series was released on April 3, 2023, and it teased fans even more.

During the 2022 San Diego Comic-Con, Marvel reveals the trailer for Secret Invasion. It was shown to the attendees in Hall H.
Now that the trailer has been previewed, we will hopefully watch the trailer within the next few months.
