Jon Snow is a character who survived from the pilot until the series finale. Although he did technically die at some point in the show, he was alive in the finale.

Jon is known to be Ned Stark’s bastard, but we later find out that he’s actually Aegon Targaryen, Lyanna Stark and Rhaegar Targaryen’s son. This means he has a stronger claim to the throne than Daenerys, but as Jon always says, “I don’t want it.”

Throughout the series, Jon becomes Lord Commander of the Watch and the King in the North. Things get complicated for him when he bends the knee to Daenerys.

Later on, Daenerys burns King's Landing to the ground. To prevent Daenerys from causing more destruction, Jon decides to kill her.

In the Season 8 finale, we last see Jon heading beyond the Wall with the wildlings. And if the Snow series does get the green light, then that might not be the last time we see Jon Snow.

Tyrion Lannister

While many characters on Game of Thrones wanted Tyrion Lannister dead, he lives throughout the entire series. Tyrion is one of the smartest characters in the series, but unfortunately, people look down on him for being a dwarf.

He even once said that his entire life, he’s been on trial for being a dwarf. In the series, he also gets accused of the murder of Joffrey Baratheon.

He later on became the Hand of the Queen to Daenerys Targaryen, and after her death, the Hand of the King to Bran Stark.

Sansa Stark

Sansa Stark is another character who survived from the first episode until the last. Sansa has one of the best character arcs in the series.

Many did not like her at first because she was a spoiled little girl. But Sansa later became one of the strongest characters in Game of Thrones, as she learned from every hardship she faced.

In the Season 8 finale, we last see Sansa Stark being crowned the Queen in the North.

Arya Stark

“Not today.”

Arya Stark is a fan-favorite, and thankfully, she survives in the end. From the start, Arya always wanted to be a fighter, and she did manage to hone her skills along the way.

It was Arya who killed the Night King in the Battle of Winterfell. She also managed to get her revenge on the Freys for the Red Wedding, which was one of the most satisfying moments in the series.

Unlike her other siblings, Arya is not very concerned with politics. In the Season 8 finale, while both Sansa and Bran become rulers, Arya chooses to sail to “what’s west of Westeros.”

Bran Stark

Bran Stark had a good storyline in the series. He wanted to be a knight, but unfortunately, became a crippled boy. So, “he learned to fly” and became the Three-Eyed Raven.

What many didn’t see coming was Bran becoming the King of Westeros. In the finale, Tyrion says that Bran the Broken deserves to be king because he has the best story. But unfortunately, not all viewers agree with this.

Sam is another Game of Thrones character who survived from Season 1 to Season 8. Sam joins the Night’s Watch in the first season and becomes best friends with Jon.

While Sam may not have the same fighting skills as Jon, he did become the first person to kill a White Walker. In the finale, Sam becomes the new Grand Maester.

Gendry Baratheon

Another character from Season 1 who made it out alive in Season 8 is Gendry Baratheon, Robert’s bastard son.

In the eighth season, we see him crafting dragonglass weapons for use against the White Walkers. Later on, Gendry was legitimized and became the Lord of Storm’s End. He also proposed to Arya, but she refused.

Bronn is a skilled swordsman who’s always motivated by money. Bronn always looks out for himself, and his allegiances will depend on the price the person offers. Tyrion even tells Bron that whatever he is paid, he will pay double.

In the series finale, Bronn becomes the new Lord of Highgarden, Lord Paramount of the Reach, and Master of Coin.
