For the past few months, we've been hearing a lot of rumors and speculations regarding the cast of the MCU reboot of Fantastic Four.

Names such as Adam Driver, Margot Robbie, Penn Badgley, Mila Kunis, and more have been floating around the web although none of them have been confirmed in any of the official reports.

There is no doubt that this is one of Marvel Studios' most important castings to date since they are expected to be pivotal characters in the MCU and, obviously, they want to make it right after the previous failed adaptations.

Now, we have an alleged new update about the casting of the film and it looks like some of the rumored names may no longer become a reality.

According to notable scooper KC Walsh, the Fantastic Four cast is still in flux as of the moment as he claimed that Adam Driver and Margot Robbie have dropped out from contention.

Driver was previously rumored to be playing Reed Richards while Robbie was being pegged to play Sue Storm. While Marvel Studios never confirmed their rumored casting, it remained persistent online that they were the frontrunners for the role.

In addition, the scooper also claimed that Daveed Diggs, who is rumored to be playing Ben Grimm/The Thing, is not locked in yet.

It should be pointed out that these alleged casting updates were never corroborated by Marvel Studios nor the major trades so we still have to take it with a grain of salt.

There are also rumors recently that there is behind-the-scenes trouble right now surrounding the casting of Fantastic Four so this claim about Driver and Robbie's status is in alignment with what we're hearing lately.

Since this is all based on speculation, it's hard to theorize why the Oscar nominees may have dropped out except for the possibility that there might be monetary issues since they might have asked for a salary that Marvel Studios couldn't commit.

There is also a chance that the two actors have cold feet or were no longer interested to commit to the franchise. Either way, if this is actually true, it is a major obstacle for the film's casting since they might have lost two talented actors.

For now, let's wait and see how it will all unfold and this could be a sign as well that it might take a while before we'll hear an official announcement regarding who will play the MCU's First Family.
