The MCU has experienced a lot of troubles and setbacks recently whether it's the divisive reactions to some of their recent releases, the firing of Marvel Studios executive Victoria Alonso, or their change of strategy on producing their TV shows following an internal backlash.

Some fans have been wondering whether the recent drama that's been happening has affected some of their upcoming projects that are currently in the works such as the long-gestated Fantastic Four movie.

Considering the hype surrounding the casting of the film and the fact that the previous film versions of the First Family did not live up to the quality, fans are hoping that the MCU reboot will deliver this time around and won't be another downer like some of the recent projects.

Now, the director has chimed in to address the concerns and it looks like we can still relax as the project is seemingly still in good hands.

In an interview with The Playlist's The Discourse Podcast, director Matt Shakman assured that the Fantastic Four movie has not been affected by the recent troubles that Marvel Studios is experiencing.

"It hasn’t. I mean, we’ve been on our process consistently. I’ve been on the project for a little over a year and working away hard at it the way we’d work on any film at Marvel, and certainly, the way we worked on WandaVision, which is starting with, you know, what is the story we want to tell?" he said.

"What is the theme of the story? Why are we telling this story? And just developing then the best possible version of that story, and how do we want to bring these characters to life?"

Shakman added, "So, you know, in terms of outside influence or conversations, it hasn’t really been a factor. It’s always high stakes. You always have to get it right."

This should assure some of the fans who have been worried about its status in lieu of the studio's recent setbacks and it looks like the project is still in good shape based on what Shakman said in his comments.

It also helps that the director has worked on an MCU project before so he already has experience with the Marvel Studios sandbox and he may not have trouble figuring out how they'll be able to pull off the highly-anticipated MCU debut of the First Family.

In the end, what matters the most is the final results that we will see on the big screen and all we can hope is that the creative team is going towards the right path since what fans wanted is a film that finally gives justice to the characters' jump to the big screen.

Fantastic Four is slated for release in theaters on May 2, 2025.
