Following his official MCU debut in Hawkeye, Vincent D'Onofrio is set to return as Kingpin in the upcoming series Echo. This time around, he will have a major presence as he is expected to appear in the majority of the episodes.

It is clear at this point that the character is being set up to have a bigger role in the franchise since he is also set to appear next in Daredevil: Born Again and there have been rumors that he will also show up in Spider-Man 4.

In an interview with Screen Rant, Echo producer Brad Winderbaum was asked whether they are setting up Kingpin as the Thanos of the street-level corner of the MCU.

He confirmed the plan for the character and teased that the upcoming series will plant the seeds of what's about to come for him in his subsequent MCU appearances.

"Oh, man, you kind of hit the nail on the head. I can't say too much. Only that as a chapter in Wilson Fisk's life, this is a crucial one and sets the stage in some remarkable ways for what's coming next," he said.

It is an exciting tease for the character as it confirms what fans have suspected about his future in the MCU and we can expect him to have a bigger presence in any New York-based street-level projects that the franchise will explore in the future.

It won't be surprising at this point now if we see a confirmation that D'Onofrio is part of Spider-Man 4, which is currently in the works, and become the main villain of the film similar to the comics where he is also part of the web-slinger's rogues' gallery.

For now, let's wait and see how it will all unfold and what kind of grand plan they have for Kingpin as they explore more of him in subsequent MCU projects.

All five episodes of Echo will premiere on Disney+ and Hulu this January 9.
