The actress is set to make her long-awaited comeback as Rey Skywalker in the Star Wars movie that was announced to be in the works by Lucasfilm last year as part of their upcoming theatrical slate.

The project remains to be in development at the moment and there have been rumors that it will be the next Star Wars movie following The Mandalorian & Grogu.

Speaking recently with Collider, Ridley shared an update on the progress of her new Star Wars movie as the development continues.

When asked whether it's going to be titled "New Jedi Order," she responded, "I don't know! I mean, I think so. From the announcement, I don't think that's changed."

Ridley went on to reveal that the script is still being worked on and she will be able to read the latest draft soon.

She said, "I know a script is happening, and I'm going to be reading it imminently, which is very exciting."

A while ago, there were rumors that the script process was experiencing some setback although it was eventually debunked by various reports.

In another follow-up question, Ridley was asked whether the movie is set to begin production this year.

"I think it could be this year. It could be, but I'm not sure. I think to be honest, the writers' strike has obviously delayed quite a lot of things," she answered.

"So the intention was later this year. Hopefully, it will be. Otherwise, top of next, I would imagine."

Based on Ridley's new comments, it sounds like the development of the project is going well despite what some rumors may have suggested and Lucasfilm is really eager to make the film happen.

It is likely that we will be hearing more news and updates in the coming months if they are indeed going to start filming this year or not.
