Zoe Saldana has weighed in on the future of the Guardians of the Galaxy in the MCU following her exit from the franchise.

The release of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 last year marked the end of an era for the fan-favorite MCU team. It served as the final film for James Gunn, who has moved on to DC Studios, and actors such as Saldana and Dave Bautista.

So far, Marvel Studios remains mum on the future plans for the team in the MCU although the end of Vol. 3 teased the new iteration led by Rocket Racoon and the return of Christ Pratt's Star-Lord at some point.

In an interview with The Playlist, Saldana opened up about the future of the Guardians of the Galaxy team in the MCU following her exit as Gamora in the third movie.

First, she iterated her announcement that she was already done playing Gamora in the MCU but the character's journey might not have ended.

"I mean, so far, I think that she is [gone for good] for me, but I don’t think Gamora has gone for good," she said.

Saldana went on to say that it would be a "huge loss" for Marvel Studios if they don't bring back the team and she will celebrate if that ever happens in the future.

"I would think it would be a huge loss for Marvel if they didn’t find a way to bring back the Guardians of the Galaxy. It’s just such a fan-favorite group of misfits, you know?" she explained.

"And then at the helm, they had a voice like James Gunn’s writing—which is just so marvelous for and very specific for this genre. And it’s so great for this genre as well. So, I would be the first one in the first row to sort of celebrate when the Guardians of the Galaxy come back."

A lot of fans might also agree with Saldana's remarks since there's also hope from them that the team will return at some point in the future.

However, it also poses the question of whether fans will accept another Guardians of the Galaxy adventure without Gunn's voice or they would rather have the MCU focus on a new group of cosmic heroes moving forward.

For now, fans should wait and see what Marvel Studios has in store for the future of the team since it is clear from the end of Vol. 3 that they have plans for them to return.
