Frieren was already shaping up to be a highlight of the Fall 23 season, and its new trailer is getting fans even more excited. That’s because the new Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End trailer revealed that YOASOBI will perform the opening theme.

This new trailer was shared on the TOHO animation official website, and it featured previews of the show’s two songs. On top of these, it also has a bunch of new clips of the anime’s main cast.

YOASOBI being the show’s OP singer is quite a surprise, and it should mean anime fans will be in for another earworm of a song.

It’s fair to say that YOASOBI has been on a roll recently as the popular Japanese music duo now has a lot of hit anime songs under its belt.

Even before they started becoming a go-to for anime, YOASOBI was already hugely popular among J-Pop fans as their song, Racing into the Night, went viral in the first half of 2020.

Now, YOASOBI has yet another upcoming song, and it is Frieren's opening song titled Yusha (or Hero in English).

After being tapped for BEASTARS Season 2, YOASOBI performed the first opening for Gundam: Witch from Mercury. Both songs became big hits among fans and on Japanese charts.

But their song, Idol, for Oshi no Ko is arguably their biggest hit. After all, the song’s music video not only racked up millions of views in just a few days but it also topped both Japanese and global music charts.

Aside from the opening theme, the new trailer also revealed the Frieren anime's ending theme song and singer. Performing the ED song, Anytime Anywhere, is milet, another popular Japanese singer.

Much like YOASOBI, milet is also a well-known singer with an impressive anime track record. She featured in the Demon Slayer: Swordsmith Village OP and performed Vinland Saga’s second ED.

Both the OP and ED are previewed in the new trailer, which you can watch here:

While the previous promo videos for Frieren focused on the initial party, this latest trailer finally stars Fern and Stark, two characters that will play big roles in the show.

Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End will premiere later this month. The series is confirmed to stream on Crunchyroll in the US and other territories.
