Marvel Studios has fired the showrunner of X-Men '97 ahead of its debut on Disney+ next week.
The highly-anticipated revival of X-Men: The Animated Series is set to bring back the majority of the original voice cast and continue the storyline from the final episode.
However, as Marvel and Disney+ are preparing for its premiere, they have lost the main key creative behind the project.

X-Men '97 Showrunner Beau DeMayo Fired by Marvel Studios
The Hollywood Reporter revealed that X-Men '97 showrunner Beau DeMayo was fired by Marvel Studios early last week.
It is unknown yet why DeMayo, who also worked on Moon Knight, was let go but his company email was deactivated and his Instagram account was also deleted.
The report noted that DeMayo has already finished writing scripts for the second season and was discussing his ideas for the third season prior to his firing.
He was also lining up for press interviews and preparing for the Hollywood premiere. He is no longer expected to promote the series or have any involvement in future seasons.
The report of DeMayo's firing came as a complete shock since it is unusual to fire a showrunner/writer closer to the premiere. Fans can't help but wonder whether we will be hearing more details on the events that led to the situation.
It doesn't help that Marvel Studios has been experiencing setbacks for the past several months due to disappointing results of some of its releases and the criticism of the quality.
They are reportedly undergoing a creative reboot at the moment as they're figuring out the right path to turn the MCU into a reliable franchise again
X-Men '97 is set to premiere with two episodes on Disney+ this March 20.
