Marvel Studios has officially dropped "The Kang Dynasty" from the title of Avengers 5 as the movie is currently undergoing massive rewrites.

The fate of the project has been in question ever since Jonathan Majors, who played Kang the Conqueror in recent MCU projects, was fired by Marvel Studios last December following his guilty verdict.

Before these changes, the Multiverse Saga would have concluded with two Avengers movies that had Kang the Conqueror as the central villain similar to what Thanos was in the Infinity Saga.

A recent report from The Hollywood Reporter detailed the creative retool that Marvel Studios is undergoing for its future MCU projects as a result of the disappointing reception of their recent releases.

One of the major changes that they are working on is for Avengers 5 as they have decided to drop "The Kang Dynasty" from its title.

They are now planning to either minimize or remove Kang the Conqueror entirely. The decision was made even before Majors' firing as the disappointing performance of Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania was cited as the reason behind the pivot.

The report also revealed that Marvel Studios has tapped Black Widow writer Eric Pearson to polish the script for Fantastic Four while The Bear showrunner Joanna Calo is currently working on rewrites for Thunderbolts.

The upcoming series Agatha: Darkhold Diaries underwent one day of reshooting earlier this month and a source claimed that Marvel is seeing a "sunny outlook" for the project internally.

It is also confirmed that it will be the only other live-action MCU series that will air this year following the premiere of Echo last month.

Overall, Marvel Studios is optimistic that they can put the franchise back in the right direction again. "They’re not going to give up. They want to make something great," a source said in the article.

It will take some time before we'll see what the outcome of the retooling will be, but hopefully, it is indeed going to lead to a positive result and perhaps put the MCU back to its glory.
