As seen in various trailers and teasers of the show, Max Mayfield is in some trouble, even levitating on top of the grave of Billy, and that only spells problems for the Hawkins gang in Stranger Things Season 4 Vol. 1 because it is their friend who is in danger. Will she die in the series?
Will Max Die in Stranger Things Season 4 Vol. 1?
Max is seen in the trailers to be in the Upside Down and she seems to be in deep trouble having to run away from the villain of the show, Vecna. Stranger Things Season 4 Vol. 1 has teased Max to be the emotional core for this installment of the franchise. This is proven in the episode made for her, Episode 4, Dear Billy.
In the Stranger Things Season 4 Vol. 1, Max found out that she has been targeted by Vecna and she started to feel the same symptoms that the other victims suffered with before dying a gruesome death. They found out about it when they went through the records of Chrissy and Fred in the office of the school counselor, Ms. Kelly.
When Max learned about what her fate could be, under the curse of Vecna as they call it, she wrote letters to everyone she loved and cared about. A lot of close calls happened to her but the closest one was when she was saying her goodbyes to Billy. Steve was alarmed at how long Max was taking and the curse started on her.

Max got into the Upside Down and she tried to outrun Vecna who would consume her. Max found Billy there but soon realized that it was just Vecna making a projection of her deceased brother. Max reached the house of Vecna and she saw Fred and Chrissy there, disembodied. Vecna was almost ready to take her in and Steve, Dustin, and Lucas saw it was about to happen.
Good thing was Robin and Nancy got a way out for her in time before Vecna fully got ahold of her. Lucas, Steve, and Dustin found her favorite song and played it for her, thus, giving her an opening. In the shackles of Vecna, she escaped by attacking him and running for her life even if Vecna threw stuff on her. She made it out and kept her music player close as a way of shielding herself from the villain.
Stranger Things Season 4 Vol. 1 is now streaming on Netflix. Vol. 2 will be released on July 1, 2022.
