Jim Hopper miraculously survived after his sacrifice at the end of Season 3 which was teased in the post-credits scene of the third installment of the franchise. In a dire condition at a Russian prison, the burning question for Stranger Things Season 4 Vol. 1 was whether he would be reunited with Joyce and Eleven.
Will Hopper Reunite with Joyce and Eleven in Stranger Things Season 4 Vol. 1?
Stranger Things Season 4 Vol. 1 showed how Jim Hopper survived the explosion in Season 3’s finale in such a miraculous way that everyone thought he was already dead. It turns out, Hopper didn’t get through the rift or explode in it, he lived but he faced the Russians who didn’t like what they did.
He became a prisoner, suffering in dire circumstances but with the help of one prison guard, Enzo, a message arrived to Joyce that Hopper is alive. With the help of Murray, Joyce found out how to get Hopper out of captivity through Yuri, a smuggler, in exchange for forty thousand US dollars.
Joyce bit the bait and went to Alaska with Murray to deliver the money only to get into a stickier situation: Yuri is a traitor for money. He blew the plan and told the Russians about Enzo and Hopper working together. Meanwhile, Hopper managed to get out of the prison only to be captured again because of Yuri’s intel to the Russians.
Joyce and Murray did everything they could to save Hopper and that included taking Yuri hostage with Murray’s skills. Hopper and Enzo were imprisoned and along with other prisoners, they were given a feast only to realize they would be fed to a demogorgon. Only Hopper knew of the monster.

Joyce and Murray had a plan for Yuri to act as Murray and the other way around while they would be turned over to the Russians. There, they saw Hopper, Enzo, and the other prisoners fight a demogorgon. Joyce and Murray helped Hopper and Enzo to survive by opening the doors to the pit. Disappointed, Enzo thought they survived only to be imprisoned again.
However, the door opened once more and there, Hopper saw the person behind their miraculous escape – Joyce and Murray. While Hopper didn’t get the chance to see Eleven, he got Joyce and the end of Stranger Things Season 4 Vol. 1 left them with another problem to think of: how do they return to Hawkins.
