The winter 2024 season may be over, but Delicious in Dungeon will continue in spring, with its next cour introducing new characters, as shown in the new trailer. Following its release, fans are now curious about Izutsumi in Delicious in Dungeon as she’ll make her debut in episode 14.
Izutsumi is one of the many new characters that will be introduced in the anime, and she has a connection with one of Laios’ former party members.

Delicious in Dungeon Second Cour Trailer Previews New Characters
After the release of episode 13, Delicious in Dungeon got a new trailer that previewed the second cour's opening and ending themes, as well as the new voice cast members.
The show’s new characters were also highlighted, including Sissel (or Thistle), who finally made a proper appearance in episode 13. From the looks of it, Sissel is going to be a major foe for Laios’ party.
Also appearing in the trailer are three characters named Maizuru, Hien, and Benichidori.
Given that their outfits seem to be inspired by traditional Japanese clothing, it should come as no surprise that they’re connected to Shuro, one of Laios’ former party members.
Izutsumi is another new character with a connection to Shuro, though she looks quite different from the others.

Who Is Izutsumi in Delicious in Dungeon?
Izutsumi is one of Shuro’s retainers who is part cat. Because of this, Izutsumi was sold to Shuro’s father at some point.
As the new trailer shows, Izutsumi will have some hilarious interactions with Laios and his party. One of the more eye-catching scenes is Laios, Marcille, and Senshi petting Izutsumi.
With Izutsumi’s appearance in the trailer, some fans are wondering whether Izutsumi is a boy or a girl.

Is Izutsumi a Boy or a Girl in Delicious in Dungeon?
It might not seem obvious, given Izutsumi’s appearance, but she is a girl, as confirmed in the manga.
As for her cat-like appearance, this is because she was cursed back when she was a child. The curse fused her with a cat-like beast.
Izutsumi and more new characters will appear in the anime’s 14th episode, which will be released next week on Netflix.
