What Happens to King Delgal in Delicious in Dungeon?
King Delgal is the ruler of the once-proud land of Golden Country, which is now deep within the dungeon.
He is the son of King Freinag, who died of wine poisoning, forcing him to conquer the throne in the process.
He grew up alongside the mad magician Sissel (Thistle), and they treat each other like brothers.
Delgal even urged Sissel to become the court's magician after witnessing his talent, which fueled the latter's ambition to preserve the country and its residents at all costs.
Years passed by, Delgal got married and had a kid named Eodio, but all of the wonderful things came to an end when Golden Country was hit by a natural disaster, as well as adversaries from every direction.
Delgal begged Sissel to save the land out of despair, fearing that if the situation continued, the kingdom would collapse.
Sissel followed Delgal's orders in the hopes of acquiring new magic spells that could either create food for everyone or destroy all of their foes at once.
What Sissel discovers is a dungeon that lies under the castle. He spent ages in the dungeon studying ancient spells and investigating the lion's statue, which piqued his interest.
After smashing the statue, Sissel discovers a mysterious book that resembles a grimoire.
With Delgal as his witness, Sissel wished for the people of Golden Country to live in peace forever, free of illnesses, natural calamities, abrupt death, and starvation, resulting in the curse of immortality within the dungeon.
The people have lived in peace for a long time, but many are dissatisfied with Sissel's actions, particularly Delgal, who wants his son to experience the outside world.

So, Where Is King Delgal in Delicious in Dungeon?
Sissel protects King Delgal's physical body, but his soul has vanished for good in Delicious in Dungeon.
He may have saved the kingdom in the past by expanding the dungeon and keeping everyone alive thanks to the curse of immortality, but the great majority, such as Delgal and Eodio, wanted to return to the surface.
This frustrated Sissel, who temporarily separated Eodio's soul and body, inviting Delgal to escape.
True enough, Delgal secretly used Eodio's empty body to reach the surface and request help.
But the instant Eodio's body left the dungeon, it crumbled, and Delgal's soul vanished.
