Which Rebels Characters Appear In the Ahsoka Trailer?

The first official trailer for the upcoming live-action Star Wars series Ahsoka (2023) has just been unveiled at Star Wars Celebration, which is taking place from today until Monday, and it looks like it will be the most thrilling series in the "Mando-Verse" so far! We've known for quite some time now that Ahsoka will serve as a sequel to the animated series Star Wars: Rebels (2014), so let's take a look and see which Rebels characters appear in the trailer!

We get our very first look at Sabine Wren in the trailer, who's played by actress Natasha Liu Bordizzo, and we think you'll agree she looks just like her animated counterpart (voiced by Tiya Sircar). In the trailer, we see her reunited with Ahsoka Tano (Rosario Dawson), echoing one of the final scenes in Rebels, when the pair team up to find their lost friend and Jedi Ezra Bridger (Taylor Gray), who will this time be played by Eman Esfandi, with the plot revolving around his whereabouts, even some 10 years after his mysterious disappearance.

The trailer confirms that actress Mary Elizabeth Winstead is, as suspected, playing Rebels Twi'lek pilot Hera Syndulla (voiced by Vanessa Marshall in the animated show), who can be seen flying her ship into battle with the erratic Astromech droid Chopper on board (also from the animated series). Winstead looks perfect as the green Twi'lek, and as she's no stranger to action roles, we think she'll fit perfectly into this role. It will also be interesting to see how she's dealing with life after the death of fellow rebel and husband Kanan Jarrus (voiced by Freddie Prinze Jr in Rebels), and also whether their son will appear in the show. Perhaps even Kanan too, as a Force Ghost.

There's a blink-and-you'll-miss-it scene in the trailer in which Sabine is looking at a hologram of Ezra Bridger (Eman Esfandi), who hasn't been seen since his disappearance with Grand Admiral Thrawn at the end of Rebels. As revealed in The Mandalorian Season 2 episode "The Jedi", in which Ahsoka makes her first live-action appearance, we know that the Togruta is also searching for Thrawn, so it's obvious that the plot will revolve heavily around her search for both Ezra and Thrawn. The question is, which one will they find first?

Besides stating the obvious, which is the fact that Ahsoka Tano is also from Rebels (in which she's voiced by Ashley Eckstein), as well as Thrawn (although it's unclear whether or not Lars Mikkelsen is reprising his role, as we only see the back of his head in the Ahsoka trailer), it's also worth pointing out that Zeb Orrelios recently appeared in The Mandalorian Season 3, with Steve Blum reprising his role as the Lasat warrior. There's no doubt that his cameo in the flagship show was mere foreshadowing for his appearance in Ahsoka.

As per Disney and Lucasfilm, here's the official trailer for Ahsoka:

Ahsoka stars Rosario Dawson (Ahsoka Tano), Natasha Liu Bordizzo (Sabine Wren), Eman Esfandi (Ezra Bridger), Hayden Christensen (Anakin Skywalker/Darth Vader), Mary Elizabeth Winstead (Hera Syndulla), Genevieve O'Reilly (Mon Mothma), Ivanna Sakhno (a mysterious Sith), Diana Lee Inosanto (Morgan Elsbeth), and Ray Stevenson (Baylan).

Ahsoka will premiere on Disney+ in August.
