Sheriff Rao returns to SAND LAND: THE SERIES following his appearance in the Sand Land film, which was released in August 2023.
In the new anime series, he asks Beelzebub and Thief for help in finding the Phantom Lake someplace south of Sand Land.
He may be a sheriff, but the King and his soldiers are unaware of his intention of getting to the lake.
They are clueless about it, and he is acting on his own volition to prevent the monarch from monopolizing the lake at some point in the future.

What Is Sheriff Rao’s Real Name? His Back Story Explained
Sheriff Rao's real name is Shiva (Shiba), and he used to serve as a general for the King.
He admitted that he killed many people during the war as part of his duties, but he was unaware of the King's secret and General Zeu's evil deeds.
General Shiva, 61, hails from the village of Apato. His name was extremely popular back then, and many people supported his ideals because he became a general at the tender age of 27, capable of defending Sand Land against rebels and outlaws.
He was also married to Sexy Terrier, an adult star who died in the explosion that killed most of Picchis and Shiva's soldiers.
Sadly, he was the officer in charge of destroying the contraption that the Picchis were creating, completely oblivious to the truth.
Following this tragedy, the king and his subjects believed Shiva had also died. He subsequently changed his name to Rao and vanished from the spotlight.
