Why Is There a Water Shortage in the Sand Land Anime?
50 years ago, humanity was at war, bringing about natural calamities that turned the entire planet into a desert. But instead of learning from their mistakes, the survivors carried on as if nothing had happened.
Then, after nearly annihilating each other, the only river in the desert abruptly dried up and no rain was in sight, causing the number of victims to climb.
To address this issue, the king generously chose to reduce the price of water. He owns the country's lone spring, which no one else may access for whatever reason after all.
With this, the king profits greatly from his monopoly on the country's water supply, much to the dismay of the citizens.
However, there is more to this narrative, which everyone in Sand Land should be aware of.
Not only is this story untrue, but the king and his general have been working behind the scenes to conceal a past incident and a devious plan.

The king has many secrets in Sand Land, the first of which is about the water shortage, and the second is about a previous incident that killed not just Sheriff Rao's wife and soldiers but also the vast majority of Picchi.
As it turns out, General Zeu has been using the king as a puppet in his malevolent plans.
They were the ones who built a dam over the river, causing it to dry up.
They even prohibited the use of flying vehicles throughout the country to conceal this secret and prevent people from discovering other sources of water.
Furthermore, the king and General Zeu pretended to assist the Picchis in developing a machine capable of producing water.
They allowed the military to help the Picchis by giving them Aquanium, which is needed for the machine’s construction, but it was also highly explosive.
In short, they blew up the machine, killing innocent residents of a nearby village, the many Picchis who worked on it, and even Rao's men.
Thankfully, by the end of the Demon Prince arc, Beelzebub and the others had exposed everything, and the river was back to normal.
