One of the many things that makes Ant-Man & the Wasp: Quantumania quite hard to digest is because of the science behind the events that happened. A perfect example of it is the "probability storm" that Scott Lang experiences on his quest to get what Kang asked him.

What is the Probability Storm in Ant-Man & the Wasp: Quantumania?

The Quantum Realm is explored deeper in Ant-Man & the Wasp: Quantumania and with the name of the place itself, there is so much science behind everything that needs more explanation. There's one point in the film which got too science-y, it's quite hard to digest.

In the agreement of Ant-Man and Kang The Conqueror, Ant-Man is needed to get the power core of the villain as his daughter is held hostage by Kang. Scott Lang would have to shrink down to get it in quite a tricky place to be -- in the middle of a probability storm.

When Scott Lang entered, copies of himself started to emerge and baffled, Scott asks M.O.D.O.K. what is actually happening. M.O.D.O.K. explains that Scott is in the middle of a probability storm where the versions of him that appears are those who could've decided differently or took another path.

As M.O.D.O.K. explained it, the probability storms is similar to Schrödinger’s box where the infamous Schrödinger’s cat is from. The storm is the box and Scott Lang is the cat.

The Schrödinger’s box is actually a thought experiment from real life made by Erwin Schrödinger, an Austrian Nobel Prize-winner in the field of quantum mechanics.

The theory on Schrödinger’s box is based on the idea of a cat placed in a box with poison which may turn up dead or alive once the poison comes out at a random time. It revolves around the many-worlds interpretation which is a quantum theory on the existence of parallel universes and its different outcomes.

Think of it this way. You are in a box where danger is present. In a different universe, you could have chosen a different way out, may it be crawling out of the lid or punching a hole through the box, or you could have chosen to stay inside and accept the impending doom. There's a reality in any choice you make.

Similar to the multiverse, as explained in Loki, when one person decides to have a different path than the one which is supposed to be taken, it causes a Nexus Event which leads to a branched or alternate reality.

In Ant-Man & the Wasp: Quantumania, each of the copies of Scott Lang chosen a different path which multiplied into various versions of him coming out -- a visual representation of every possibility that could happen, thus, a probability storm.

It is, however, quite a touching point that each of the probability only gets one goal -- save Cassie, which means in any reality, the love of Scott Lang for his daughter would prevail and each of the versions of him proves that in any reality, in any universe, in any timeline, Scott would always do everything for his daughter.

Ant-Man & the Wasp: Quantumania is now in theaters worldwide.
