We will meet most of the original cast members from earlier Ant-Man films in Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania.

Paul Rudd and Evangeline Lilly Will Return

Disney confirmed that Paul Rudd and Evangeline Lilly would return to play Scott Lang and Hope van Dyne, respectively. They made this announcement during the annual Disney investor call.

Dr. Hank Pymm and Janet van Dyne

Michael Douglas and Michelle Pfeiffer will also be returning to Ant-man and the Wasp: Quantumania. Douglas will play Dr. Hank Pym, while Pfeiffer will play his wife, Janet van Dyne.

A New Cassie Lang

Kathryn Newton, known for her stint in Big Little Lies, will now play Cassie Lang in the MCU. The younger Cassie Lang was portrayed by Abby Ryder Forts during the first two movies in the franchise, while Emma Fuhrmann in Avengers: Endgame.

Kang the Conqueror

Jonathan Majors will play Kang the Conqueror, the primary antagonist in Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania. Majors is perhaps most well-known for his roles in Lovecraft Country and Da 5 Bloods.

Kang the Conqueror may be the villain in Ant-Man, but he is also set to appear in other MCU movies in the future. This is because, in the comic books, Kang took on the entire Avengers team various times across the different stories.

Images circulating online give us an unintended first look at Jonathan Majors as Kang the Conqueror. One of the Stunt Team members posted a photo on Twitter where the crew member is seen wearing a shirt showing a damaged Ant-Man helmet. The helmet reflects the green and purple image of a masked Kang, the Conqueror.

The Rest of the Ant-Man Crew

The rest of the cast from the previous Ant-Man movies may also return. Based on the ending of the last Ant-Man and the Wasp movie, Laurence Fishburne may return as Bill Foster, and Hannah John-Kamen may return as Ghost.

Bill Murray is another surprise member in Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania. There have rumors going around on Reddit that Murray will be playing Krylar, the king of the beings who are living in the Quantum Realm. His participation was confirmed during the San Diego Comic-Con 2022.

Another character was confirmed during the SDCC 2022 – the comic book character MODOK will be a part of Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, but we still do not know who will be playing the part. Other rumors circulating is that Corey Stoll will be returning to play Yellowjacket aka Darren Cross, in the film.

Aside from these, we are also still waiting for news on whether or not Michael Peña will return to the MCU’s favorite sidekick, Luis.

Peyton Reed is the director for Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania. Jeff Loveness, who writes for Rick and Morty, is the writer for the third Ant-Man film. Reed also directed the first two movies in the Ant-Man franchise.

Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania Production Technology

Director Peyton Reed shared that the production of Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania will use the same cutting-edge technology as The Mandalorian.

Through this production method, the scenes for the film were taken using large screens that display high-quality images. This means that shooting in real-world locations was minimal, which proved to be convenient given that travel restrictions are still in place because of the pandemic.

As always, we still do not have much information about the plot of Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania. Marvel is keeping the plot details under wraps, but we can make assumptions based on the elements we know.

The first clue we can use is the title, Quantumania, which could mean that the third film will take us back to the quantum realm. We took quick trips through the quantum realm in the first two Ant-Man movies, so this third one may finally be the deep dive we need to learn more about it.

During the mid-credits scene in the Ant-Man and the Wasp, we see Scott Lang harvesting energy from the quantum realm for his Ghost friend. This implies that the character may return to the third movie.

Aside from Ghost, we may also see Cassie Lang don a suit to join her dad. In the comic books, Cassie becomes the superhero called Stature, who will eventually join the Young Avengers. In the movie, Scott may be forced to train Cassie to help defeat Kang the Conqueror.

Scott needs all the help he can get if he is facing off against Kang the Conqueror because of how difficult it will be to defeat the villain. Kang’s character made his debut in the first season of Loki on Disney+. This variant of Loki was known as He Who Remains and was murdered by Sylvie as an act of revenge.
When this Kang variant was dying, he warned the others about more dangerous variants of Kang who would be coming from all around the multiverse.

There have been hints along the way pointing to Kang’s connection to Ant-Man, like the giant Yellowjacket helmet near Kang’s void in the fifth episode of Loki season 1. The armor was made after Hank Pym’s work. Kang maybe after the Pym Particles and was trying to figure out how it worked through the armor.

Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania in D23 Expo 2022

Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania had its own presentation during the D23 Expo 2022.

Fans were treated to an exclusive clip from the film that featured Scott Lang with Hope Van Dyne and Hope’s parents, Dr. Hank Pymm and Janet Van Dyne. They clip also featured Scott Lang’s daughter, Cassie Lang.

The primary cast members of Ant-Man who were present during the Expo were Paul Rudd, Evangeline Lily, and Jonathan Majors. After engaging in playful banter with the audience, Paul Rudd talked about how excited he was about the film.

The first movies are so near and dear to my heart, and I was so excited to get ready to start this thing. This thing is bananas. And while it seems like a bit of an oxymoron if something so small can do something so huge, this is going to be unlike anything you’ve seen from [Marvel]. And not to mention [Jonathan] he’s incredible. It throws this whole thing into such new territory.
